Acid Erosion & Braces?

Posted on August 16, 2010

My sister has moderate acid erosion on her teeth from years of suffering from acid reflux and chugging sodas. Her teeth are quite crowded and crooked, and she wants to get braces before she goes to University.
Will her acid eroded teeth be a problem with braces?

And she isn't a good candidate for Invisalign.

  1. Depends on how bad they are, but I don’t think it’ll be a problem. Orthodonists care more about your roots and your bones than your actual teeth. That being said, braces must be attached to your teeth and pulled off at a later date. If the teeth are too bad this process may damage them further??? Invisalign may be better. Talk to an orthodonist about all this.

  2. i dont think s o but i would recommend going to the dentist and getting them cleaned before she got braces on
