Bayer Low Dose Aspirin 81mg, Enteric Coated Tablets

You may ask, why choose Bayer aspirin, isn’t aspirin all the same? Well, the answer is yes and no. Yes being that aspirin is aspirin, but no when dealing with delivery systems, quantitative and qualitative aspects. Why do I say this, because when I was a college student we did quantitative and qualitative analysis on Bayer aspirin. Using the USP’s standard monograph for quality we did some lab work and choosing random samples bought in retail settings, we did our analysis.

Of course we not only did analysis on Bayer, but other brands as well, even the generics. We came up with some interesting results. Recording all lot numbers and expiration dates, along with the manufacturers of record, the results were wide ranging, indeed. But the most consistent results came from Bayer. We were using the most sophisticated equipment and could measure very small differences and could find anything untoward in the products, if they were there.

Bayer was by far the most accurate delivering what the labeled tablet dose stated on the bottle. The USP gives a range for a product, usually a plus or minus “X” percent according to the product being tested. There were 30 people in our class at the time and we used different lot numbers of the Bayer aspirin and Bayer delivered the best overall stated results. What you read on the label was what you received in the bottle. Seeing the results of other manufacturers products, it was abundantly clear that Bayer was the brand of aspirin that was the most pure and was the most accurate when it stated the mg dose. I saw for myself that Bayer was the best bar none. Seeing the results that our lab ran on aspirin products has convinced me that Bayer can be trusted.

Why do I like this particular Bayer product? The enteric coating helps to by pass the stomach when it releases the medication. This is important for those with GERD or stomach ulcerations as aspirin can irritate the lining of the stomach and cause pain and bleeding. Used as label or under a doctor’s care low dose aspirin can be a life saver. Keeping the blood from clotting as we get older and causing heart attacks and other medical maladies. 81mg is the desired dose unless otherwise recommended by your physician.

The easy open cap is another desired feature. This bottle is not recommended of households with young children. The ease of opening is great, no fighting trying to get the bottle opened.

It is important to note, even though 81mg of aspirin is a “Baby Aspirin” not all 81mg doses are the same as this is a prime example. This is enteric coated and not a quick release form found in true “Baby Aspirin.” So, Caveat Emptor, know what you are purchasing and for what purpose.

Bayer Aspirin can reduce the risk of death if taken as directed by a doctor as soon as a heart attack is suspected. The FDA says that as little as one-half (160 – 162.5 mg) of a regular-strength aspirin tablet reduces the risk of death by up to 23 percent if administered when a heart attack is suspected and continued for 30 days thereafter. Aspirin taken during a suspected heart attack can lessen the damaging effects of the heart attack.
The FDA has approved aspirin for a wide variety of uses under a doctor’s care. Aspirin has unsurpassed ability to fight pain and, used under a doctor’s care, can treat inflammation. Plus, it is the only analgesic that can help save your life when taken as directed by a doctor during a suspected heart attack.
