Can Toothpaste be Dangerous?
Posted on August 22, 2010
There have been so many new toothpaste types, I am wondering if some of the chemicals could be toxic. They promise to clear plaque, whiten teeth, destroy germs, etc. From what I read in the newpapers, governments keep finding chemicals that can be toxic, and there are thousands that have not been tested.
I dislike the taste of these new formula toothpastes, and have been using the simple, old formulations. It is something I wonder about.
What do you think?

It’s not a good idea to ingest ANY toothpaste of any kind. I have heard that recent studies show that they ALL have some ingredient that is highly toxic if ingested.
I prefer the original Crest, myself… ‘course, being that I have no teeth left and am soon to get dentures, you’d think I’d be done with toothpaste… but I plan to keep using my Crest. Not for the fluoride benefits, of course, but I have to brush my gums!

Yes, there are questions about the safety of some of the new formulas. Sticking with the old types is probably safer. But nearly all toothpastes have fluoride in them, and large amounts of of fluoride can be toxic. Just don’t swallow it and you will probably be safe.

Toothpaste is fine as long as you don’t swallow it.

No they arent dangerous because they are tested before releasing the finished product.
And you dont swallow it you only put it on your teeth.
