Can you use AquaFresh iso-active whitening toothpaste with braces?

Posted on August 22, 2010

I recently got braces 2 days ago and I have 2 kinds of toothpaste at my house. Some random colgate whitening toothpaste and AquaFresh iso-active whitening toothpaste. Would it work just as good or better?

  1. I do. I don’t think it works any better, but I never used it before I got braces.

I don’t find it works that great, but maybe that is because I have braces? Did it work great for you, because if it did than it probably won’t work well with braces./

  2. I wouldn’t recommend using whitening products with braces. When you get them off, you’ll have yellow/dull spots where the brackets were!

  3. I agree with Lisa. Any whitening should be done before the braces or after the braces are placed. Just use regular toothapaste. However, make sure that what you do use is approved by the ADA(American Dental Association) As far as whitening goes—after your braces are off you may then continue to whiten. Ask your dentist if they have any whitening material in their office. If not try the crest strips. Good luck to you on your beautiful smile.

  4. That toothpaste, as any other, will only remove surface stains. You can use it but you may have some spots on your teeth when the braces come off. This is actually quite common and can be repaired with bleaching or buffing out the tooth, depending on what the dentist recommends.

Just remember to always brush at least twice a day and especially before bedtime while wearing your braces. and, even though it is difficult, it is important to floss too.

    Hope I helped.
