cavity / root canal? help!?

Posted on August 18, 2010

i visited the dentist about 6 months ago and was told that i have 3 cavities. i decided not to fill them but instead to take care of them by brushing every day/night, flossing before i go to sleep, and using mouth wash with fluoride. i am not feeling any pains nor do i see any tiny holes in my teeth. i'm scheduled for another visit soon. could it be possible that my cavities have gotten worse? could it be possible that i'll need to get a root canal?

  1. geez! Chances the cavities are still there, a bit of wishful thinking that you could just erase them – I wish we could !! ;o)

But you gotta go to the dentist.

If it makes you feel any better, I did a similar stupid thing…and in the end I had it filled. No root canal. In fact the cavity was minor (although I knew a had it for a year) and the dentist figured she could fill it without giving me the freezing (aka the needle) and I sooo jumped on that option…LOL I hate the needle, so I got no needle, the filling was done up and I walked out of the office 15 minutes later. I of couse kicked myself for waiting so friggin long…yes stupidity…we all do it…but get yourself on track and head over to the dentist. I figure you’ll probably get a filling and that’s it.

  2. Trust me if you need a root canal you will feel the pain. I have had several and it’s a pain that can be excruitating.

  3. Cavities will always get worse if they are not filled. It is possible you would need a root canal if the cavity is deep enough. If you want to save up to 80% on all your dental care, please visit http://www.affordabledentalplanonline.com. Compare this plan, even if you have dental insurance.
