Do you need a new piece of floss between every tooth?
Posted on September 5, 2010
I know the purpose of flossing is to break up the bacteria, but why do people say to use a new section of the floss between each tooth? Is it really serving a purpose.. THe way I allways firgured was you floss, then you brush, then you rinse with mouth wash and that seems like it should clean your mouth perfect.. Why use a new section of floss between every tooth?

Flossing gets the big stuff out the brush might not be able to get out.
If you use one of those floss sticks you get in bags, it would be impossible to use a new one for each tooth.
A bag of them would only last a few days.
I use one for all of them, then brush.

you don’t need to use a different piece because you’re right, the mouth wash will take care of the bacteria- flossing DOESN’T get rid of bacteria anyway, it just takes out the bits of food.
what i do is use the floss then just run it under the tap between each tooth, or roll it like a scroll between my 2 forefingers :)
