Good brushing techniques?

Posted on September 8, 2010

I have braces, and today I went to the orthadontist to get tightened. I noticed in a really bright light that my i have alot of yellow plaque around my teeth where the brackets are. I don't know why! :( I brush twice a day, I floss once a week, and use mouthwash.

Any good brushing techinques to get rid of plaque easily?

  1. An electric toothbrush might help, sometimes they are more efficient and effective than we are with a manual one. Be sure to aim the bristles of your brush so that they get as much ‘under’ the brackets as possible- don’t keep the bristles horizontal, you should have them more at a 45 degree angle to the area you are brushing. Many devices are available to aid you in cleaning, but they are also more time consuming.
You should floss more often- aim for three-four days a week at least. It is recommended that you floss once a day.

  2. Electric brush is better. When you have braces you are to brush at least 4xs per day, not 2.

    Flossing properly even better.
