gums irritated from flossing?

Posted on September 10, 2010

I usually dont floss. But last night I did and now my tooth has an enflamed gum. Its just around that tooth (one of my front teeth).
What should I do?
Ice it, maybe?
Floss more (i will definitely do this!)
Wait, it'll go away OR
is this a really bad reaction?

  1. Your gums are actually irritated because you dont floss regularly and then you did. You can gargle with warm salt water and xylitol mouth wash to help with your gum health issues. Do not stop flossing because there is a problem.

LOL at least floss you the teeth that are seen in public and the ones your chew with… they are the only teeth that will ever fit your mouth properly.

  2. Just floss it more. You should be flossing every day. When you floss for the first time in a while, your gums will definitely be irritated and sore. :)

  3. if you don’t normally floss, this is why you are swollen and inflammed now, you probably have gum disease. Flossing should be done after every meal.

  4. You don’t need to floss daily, that is a myth that sells this over priced thread. The industry is making a killing off the gullable.

  5. Your gums need time to adjust. Back in my younger days, I didn’t floss regularly. Because my gums would bleed a little and be sore. Plus I was just lazy. Once I started flossing every day, my gums got used to it. The soreness went away. And no more bleeding.

Floss every night. It helps. And while they’re sore, gargle with some salt water.
