had 2 extractions yesterday morning.. oral surgery help!! paranoid!?
I'd first like to start off by saying.. I do have general anxiety and lately have been paranoid about infections and my health................ due to no insurance, i have had a unfinished root canal that got infected and a root canal right next to it that needed to be extracted. so teeth 30 & 31. my back molar and the one next to it.
dentist told me i had a chronic infection there... and yesterday i was finally able to get them out. i went to an oral surgeon who gave me a payment plan.
now the day after i'm still experiencing some blood especially when i rinse my mouth and it seems like my gum is swollen still and i'm still very sore. i'm wonderin if all this is normal. i am on antibiotics but still paranoid about infectiong :( any input would help.........
is all this discomfort normal? i hurts on that side when i swallow. i feel like my gum is attached to my cheek. its difficult to talk and eat still. and is the blood still normal? it was a lot more blood yesterday the day of the surgery but now its mostly if i talk to much or rinse my mouth.
please any advice. is this something to worry about? or am i just stressing myself out?
i also have like an on and off dull pain like pressure in my temple on side i had extractions............

Good Afternoon, Girl24!
First let me start off by saying that I am NOT a dentist. However, I’ve been through my own root canal extraction so my insight may be of assistance to you. First, make an equal mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water: gargle with it repeatedly and DON’T SWALLOW IT! That should help clean the area and aid in relieving any possible infection (not to mention that it will clear up any bad breath quickly).
After that and if you notice any bleeding still, take a gauze pad and push it into the area where you are experiencing the bleeding. Let it sit there for at least 20 minutes, without eating or drinking anything. It sounds like you are having problems with getting your blood to clot in that area…and if the bleeding does not clear up very soon, you need to try to schedule an emergency followup with the dentist who did your extraction. If they won’t see you right away – find another dentist pronto! The dentist should have put in a lil plug in the area where you got the root canal done. The plug may not be sticking and/or you may NOT be clotting the way your body should.
Finally, eat only clear soups and drinks at this time. You don’t want any huge chunks of food to pass over your already sore gums. If need be, use one of those lil spoons that also doubles as a straw. Lead the straw to that part of your throat that is NOT near the extraction, again, so you don’t irritate the extraction.
For the pain, you may want to check with a doctor about putting some Orajel over the area, if the bleeding stops. Obviously, you want to be careful about taking ANY medication if you are already taking any medications and/or if you have any allergies to various types of medicines. In addition, taking any aspirin may make your blood thinner, which you really don’t want if you are already bleeding.
I hope that helps out!
