  1. In some cases instead of placing a crown, the Dentist opts to just fill it …and No you should not have bad breath from this. After a period of time the tooth will become brittle and break away….

  2. From when I went to the dentist to get a root canal, it is only when your tooth is virtually dead anyways. I have a tooth that did NOT get a root canal and is completely dead. It is slowly deteriorating and is not causing anything harmful to my other teeth.

A root canal from my understanding is just to prevent any kind of gum infection from being exposed due to a cavity or something. I thought a root canal was to destroy your tooth’s root.

  3. No. Your tooth will not rot as long as you brush your teeth regularly. When you get a root canal, the endodontist/dentist hollows out your tooth by taking out the pulp and nerve. However, if you don’t put the crown on, you could break the tooth – here’s why: the tooth is hollow instead of being solid, therefore it is nto as strong and can be broken more easily when munching on hard candy, etc. The porcelain crown protects and strengthens the tooth.

  4. Your tooth will decay over time and start chipping away until there is nothing left. As far as bad breath, if you practice good hygiene, you should not have bad breath because of the tooth. Halitosis is the disease for bad breath. I wouldn’t wait to long to get that tooth capped though. Once you lose a tooth it is gone for good!

  5. The tooth will need a crown or cap since it will be weaker after a root canal. It at least needs to be filled. It will only ‘rot’ if it becomes decayed, and yes, that will give you bad breath.
