Sunflower oil for your teeth…what do you think?
Back in December, I came across the concept of "Oil Pulling", or oil swishing. Basically you swish or 'pull' oil through and in and around your mouth, and then spit it out.
I began swishing sunflower oil in my mouth for 10-15 minutes in the mornings...
I noticed a change within 3 days, but I was skeptical and wanted to be absolutely certain.
I started doing this December 15th. I can honestly say that the plaque and tartar are gone and my teeth are whiter.
They're also much thicker and feel more solid in my mouth. Plus my gums are improving quite a bit.
Six months ago, I was looking at having all my teeth pulled and getting dentures. I don't have to do that anymore. :)
Oil pulling is DEFINITELY worth a try, imo!!!
Is there an easier way to floss with braces?
I use floss threaders.. maybe once a week. I know it's important to floss daily but I honestly don't want to spend 15 minutes flossing.
How do you get rid of the gunk on your retainer?
My retainer has yellowish hard gunk on it and I have tried everything to get it off. I have used the efferdent in warm water for 15 minutes and scrubbed it with my toothbrush under warm water for about 3 weeks now and it is still there. I have even used a waterpick and nothing seems to be working. I need to get it off fast because I have an orthodontist appointment in 3 days and I dont want to get chewed out by my doctor. Please help and tell me if I am doing something wrong and if I need to use anyother methods.
In the morning, when do you brush your teeth, after or before eating breakfast?
I have also heard that you are supposed to wait at least 15 minutes to brush your teeth after eating certain foods due to the fact that the tooth enamel becomes softer and you don't want to ruin it with your toothbrush. On the other hand however, it seems quite silly to brush your teeth before dirtying them some more with apple jacks cereal.
What do you know, and when do you brush those whites (or yellows for some of you)...lol.

electric shocks in my teeth?
shocks come out of nowhere during day and mainly affect my front top two teeth, but also happen on other teeth in anterior region of my mouth (incisors, even mandibular teeth). it feels like the shocks associated with teeth whitening (i had this done 2 yrs ago...never had a problem since). they happen about 2-5 times every 15 minutes, drinking or eating does not stlimulate shocks. shocks started up in early july. i had 8 small cavities (never had a cavity before) filled in early june. i went to the dentist and she checked condition of my enamel, gum recession, x-rays, and any cavities. she said that everything was fine. on high fluoride toothpaste now for 5 wks. she guesses that shocks are a result of the fact that only my mandibular/maxillary central incisors touch when i bite (i went to the othro and he said that my jaw did infact grow...i may need braces again...he gave me an essix retainer to protect my teeth at night...he is not sure what is wrong either). i'm 19 and sooo scared!!
Has anyone done that 15 minute teeth whitening?
Has anyone done the 15 minute teeth whitening that you see in the mall? The one that uses a light for 15 minutes and only costs . Does it work? Does it hurt?
How long did it take you to get good at flossing with braces?
I'm on day 3, and it takes me like 15 minutes just to floss. Even with that thread they gave me.
What about you?
How do you reach the teeth right at the back of your mouth when brushing?
I keep getting ulcers from brushing my teeth because my toothbrush keeps slipping and hitting the sides of my mouth and gums.
It takes me 15 minutes to brush my teeth because I have to be so careful! And even then, I still can't get the molars right at the back properly - the toothbrush head is too big to fit into the back of the mouth!
Any tips?
