I am in my 18th week of pregnancy and seeking ideas for back pain and heartburn?
I have had acid reflux for years, and most heartburn medications do not work. Diet is my only control over heartburn (milk makes it worse). As for the back pain, I cannot afford a heating pad. I need to find something that will help with the back and neck pain!!!
Help! Don't know what to do!?
Ok. So about a month and a half ago I went to the dentist, and apparently I had massive enamel erosion on my teeth. The receptionist lady came out to talk to me about how bad forcing yourself to throw up is, because that is what they thought I did. The problem is I have never done that before in my life--IT'S DISGUSTING. The enamel is supposedly basically all the way gone in the back, and almost always bulimia is the cause of it. Well today my mom came to talk to me about it and I tried to explain to her that I have never done that and I never would. I'm signed up to meet with a counselor at the beginning of January (involuntarily). I don't think anybody believes me and I don't know what to do :(. Does anybody have any alternatives that can cause this extreme of enamel decay, because I really need some help. Without another possibility for this there is almost no way that my parents or anybody else will believe me. I know what causes normal tooth decay, but I really need to figure out what can cause something this bad so I can find out if that is what's happening.
To clear up some things. I don't have acid reflux, and I realize some has been caused by beverages. To stop drinking pop I replaced it with a carbonated flavored water that is just as bad for my teeth, but is better for me overall. I've drank 2 of these a day for the last couple months, which I think is most of the problem, but apparently the erosion is so far gone in the back they don't think that is the cause.
Also, I'm 16, about 5'11'', and weigh slightly over 150. I don't see how they think I'm bulimic, because that's pretty average weight.
Are soft teeth further harmed by vigorous cleanings by a hygenist?
I have severely soft enamel on my teeth. No, I'm not, nor have I ever been, bulimic, I do not suffer from acid reflux, and I do not chew icecubes or suck lemons, I have no medical conditions and am in excellent health, and my mother did not take any drugs, prescription or otherwise, while she was pregnant with me (all things that could cause such severe erosion.) My problems are simply genetic.
Anyway, with enamel as soft as mine (my dentist has "diagnosed" it as being just slightly above the softest level of enamel possible) could the hard scrapings from the cleaning tools actually WORSEN my chipped and eroded enamel? Two months after my last cleaning two teeth wore down rapidly and needed to be built up and bonded yesterday (I've got 11 crowns as well.) Every time I go for a cleaning I wince at how hard the hygenists scrape and pick at my poor enamel, while lecturing ME to not crunch anything too hard.
Could it be be beneficial to insist the hygenists stop the hard scrapings?
Also, I should mention, hygiene is not an issue as I brush and floss properly, regularly. My dentist is actually suprised that there is no decay anywhere on my teeth despite missing enamel. In other words, these hygenists really don't have all that much to scrape; when they do it so hard, I really think there are times they are actually flaking off my enamel. I felt two rough spots on my lower back molar after my last cleaning, and with a flashlight discovered to small missing pieces of enamel that WEREN'T missing before.
Can you get enamel back or artificial enamel.?
Im only 16 and have practically no enamel on my teeth due to my acid reflux my dentist looks in my mouth and is like "oh yeah you're the girl with all the wear and tear" it hurts when I drink or eat anything with tempeture or when everything brush's up against it. I've used all the toothpastes and mouthwash's for enamel protection but they only protect against further damage. Is there anything a dentist or anything can do to get your enamel back?
Acid Erosion & Braces?
My sister has moderate acid erosion on her teeth from years of suffering from acid reflux and chugging sodas. Her teeth are quite crowded and crooked, and she wants to get braces before she goes to University.
Will her acid eroded teeth be a problem with braces?
And she isn't a good candidate for Invisalign.
How to get rid of bad breath?
I. Recommend any products? Tooth brushes, mouthwashes, etc.
II. I'm pretty sure that I have acid reflux. So no gum, or mints because the chewing sends a message to the stomach to add more acid.
III. Does chewing parsley or any "voodoo" like that help?
Now about me. I brush, floss, and use Listerine everyday and night. In addition, what is the difference between tooth paste with fluoride and without fluoride.
ONLY answer if you know what you're talking about. No, check with your dentist or stupid things like that.
Why can't I get rid of chalky teeth?
I had a rough start to dental hygiene. My parents weren't exactly advocates, and our insurance didn't cover any local dentists. To top this off, I was three months premature, had acid reflux, and was on a lot of medication. My teeth are small, and never gave me problems in the lines of pain. Finally at the age of 18, I found a dentist two hours away that would cover me. I had all four wisdom teeth pulled a month ago, and two fillings today. They've given me high fluoride toothpaste that I have to use each night without rinsing (two of my teeth have see-through parts on their bottom). I've begun flossing and brushing after every meal, yet it seems like my teeth are getting more white, chalky spots in the corners where I floss. Why? I'm trying to fix my ways, and have been brushing in this fashion for two months...
What can I do about enamel loss?
I am 26 years old and I am having a huge problem with enamel loss on my teeth. My Dentist gave me fluoride gel, but is there anyting else? Is there some radical new procedure out there to repair my teeth? Just to give you a quick history, I have had a couple of cavities in my life, then out of nowhere a few years back, i had 2 to 3 cavities on each tooth. My Dentist and Doctor speculate it was due to severe acid reflux that went untreated. Basically all night long my stomach acids were eating my teeth away. I will do anything to save them now! Is it too late? Am I going to be 30 years old with dentures?
Lemonade and tooth enamel erosion?
I have a significant amount of tooth enamel erosion on most of my teeth. I have never had an eating disorder and recently a doctor ruled out the possibility of acid reflux being a cause. When I was around high school age I became obsessed with lemonade. I really drank alot of it. I know that it has been mentioned that sucking on lemons could cause erosion, but what about lemonade?
