how long should you wait in between drinking tea and milk so the milk does not reduce the health benefits?

Posted on July 29, 2011

We learned in health class that the proteins in milk, and I am assuming other dairy products, reduces or eliminates the antioxidant power in green tea. What the article that we read didn't say was how long you should wait in between so the milk doesn't affect the tea. Should I wait a few minutes? A couple hours? A whole day?? Also, which should I drink first if I want to wait for the least amount of time (if it even matters)?

Why is it that with certain canker sore treatments, it's excruciatingly painful at first, but painless later?

Posted on March 7, 2011

Some treatments that I've read about for canker sores are to dab it with vodka/rum (it was some sort of alcohol), rinse with warm salt water, rinse with hydrogen peroxide, or apply salt directly. When you apply any of those methods, it's extremely painful, but eventually (the amount of time after varies) the pain is gone, and in some cases, the sore will shrunk overnight. I can personally say that salt water, and plenty of sleep seems to accelerate the healing.

How do the health benefits compare between walking and running?

Posted on February 17, 2011

I know running burns more calories in the same amount of time, but if I just take up walking, how do the long-term health benefits compare? Is running more heart-healthy, or are they about the same? What are the pros and cons of each?

A teeth whitening product that is not expensive and actually works?

Posted on February 15, 2011

I don't want to buy some fancy teeth whitening kit that cost an arm and a leg. Also I don't want to spend a ton of money at the dentist or some other teeth whitening clinic. I'm just looking for an inexpensive whitener that will whiten my teeth in a fairly short amount of time.

Do I have gingivitis?

Posted on January 16, 2011

This is a re-post as I would like some clearer answers:

Hello,

I have not brushed my teeth for 3-4 years. I have done it a couple of times over the years. Not more than fifty times, most likely. I am starting to do it now, and that is permanent, twice a day. I will also start to floss as well.

I have absolutely no problems in my mouth at all after such a long amount of time without brushing. My gums looks fine, no pain in them, they aren't swollen, red, or anything for that matter. My teeth are fine, a bit yellow. The tips on some of them are broken but that is not relevant to me not brushing my teeth. I t happened when I was brushing my teeth by cracking my teeth together and most likely doing something in my sleep.

Overall, my mouth feels fine. I have no pain, nothing. When I do brush my teeth (Did it today for the first time in quite a while) There was some blood in the spit, but right after I was done brushing I did not notice any blood in my mouth, I was most likely only brushing too hard, no swollen gums, no pain, only little blood and that was only during the brushing, a second after washing the mouth I couldn't see anything.

Is there any chance that I have gingivitis (Considering I have no pain, so swollen gums, nothing...)? Is there any chance that I will get it because of this? Will brushing my teeth and flossing twice a day prevent things from happening in the future?

I am going to book a time with my dentist (I went there about two years into my "no brushing" break and they said my teeth were perfectly healthy). I just want to know about my risks....

Thanks.
Also, I brush three times a day, floss once a day and use listerine twice a day. Starting last week... But I never get any blood.

Posted on December 26, 2010

Okay so, when it comes to brushing and flossing....i do it. I mean i don't take the "3 to 5 minute time limit" to do this, cause ever since i was little i've always brushed for the same amount of time. A little under a minute. And yes, when i was little i never flossed but when i turned 12 and went to the dentist for the FIRST TIME..Yes I Know....I started really taking care of my teeth.* Mom where were you?* But i Digress, So this gingivitis thing has had it's come arounds but my dentis never sai d a thing about it..they just say. take better care of your teeth. blah blah balh..yeah i know the drill..and THAT drill too!! Lol. But jokes aside, I don't wanna lose my precious half adult, half baby teeth so i ask of you...can this gingivitis "thing" stop by me taking MORE better care of my teeth and my oral diet..if that makes sense* or do i have to go to the doctor and let them handle it. Cus really yall that speck of blood on my floss...GOT TO GO!!!!! :)

Can anyone give me some information on cavities?

Posted on December 19, 2010

Okay, so I have never had a cavity in my whole life. I'm almost 21. I went to a new dentist today, and they told me I have five. I went to another dentist for sometime but they had two appointments mix ups, and called to cancel and reschedule them on me all the time. I got fed up and stopped making one, so it has been a year and two months since I got a cleaning.
I don't know how I could have five cavities in that amount of time especially when I haven't had any in my whole life. I also feel like I'd be in pain. I don't have any, at all. I have one sensitive tooth, but that's not one where the cavities are.
My mom thinks they are just trying to get money from me, 'cause the second I got in there they were trying to get me to buy fluoride rinses, and teeth whitening. Then they said that it would cost ,852 to get them all filled, my insurance would pay ,500 of it. Then I told them, well I can't afford that right now, and they were trying to get me to get a dental credit type card with them. I said I couldn't make any decisions right now, and she was like "well why don't I make you an appointment for January and you can call if you don't have the money?" I told her no, and she was still trying to push the credit on me.
My mom said fillings shouldn't cost that much. It would mean they would cost over 0 each, I looked it up and it said that it should be - 0 per filling. That's a big difference.
I don't know how I can have this many cavities and not be in pain at all. My mom said I should get a second opinion. I also looked up cavities, and it said a lot of times they take years to form, so I don't know how I could have five. Either this dentist is lying, or my other dentist didn't know what to look for.
Does this sound fishy to anyone?
How do cavities feel?
Does it hurt to get them filled?

What are some effective methods for whitening teeth with braces?

Posted on December 11, 2010

I'd really like to whiten my teeth, but I have braces. What are some of the best ways to accomplish this? Oh, and school begins on Tuesday, so if you know multiple methods, can you list them from shortest to longest? I mean the amount of time it takes. hahahahaha. Thank you! :D

What is the best teeth whitening bleach?

Posted on November 21, 2010

I've been bleaching my teeth off and on for the past 7 years. First when the brightlight came out, which was unsuccessful. Then with opalescence, which does work. But I've also seen some reviews that celebrity sexy teeth works, as well as zoom, and crest white strips. Any one gotten bright white teeth in a short amount of time?
