I think I might have Gingivitis?
I'm not really sure, but my lower gums bleed a little bit at the front when I brush, even when it isn't too hard. My friend who's 12 like me went to the dentist today and she was told she has gum disease. I'm really scared cos I might have gingivitis... I looked on Wikipedia and it said the symptoms of gingivitis are:
Swollen gums
Mouth sores
Bright-red, or purple gums
Shiny gums
Swollen gums that emit pus
Severe oral odor
Gums that are painless, except when pressure is applied
Gums that bleed easily, even with gentle brushing, and especially when flossing.
Gums that itch with varying degrees of severity.
But I only have bleeding gums and it's only by a couple of my teeth, help please, I'm only 12 and I'm really scared!!

This isn't gingivitis right?
i dont keep up with flossing normally usually just once a week.
but recently ive started flossing every night.
except that one part of my teeth on the top right, bleeds when i floss.
but otherwise its fine everywhere else.
also i have braces and i just had 4 teeth pulled a few months ago and the gaps closed up (the spot where it bleeds is where one of the gaps were if it has something to do with it)
anyways, i dont know if this is just from not flossing enough but i really hope its not gingivitis since i know gingivitis has symptoms of bleeding gums. but my gums dont bleed when i brush so its not that bad. its only that one area. should i go to my dentist?
will my teeth fall out if i carry on drinking fizzy drinks??
I have some enamel erosion on my front teeth from drinking too many acidy drinks. I can see the tooth getting thinner where the drinks hit the tooth and have recently been feeling aching and sensitivity in the tooth. I brush only once a day and don't tend to floss. I know I should brush more and floss but what i want to know is.... if the enamel on my teeth continues to thin/rot, will my teeth eventually fall out????? I also get bleeding gums....will this cause my teeth to fall out?? thanks
Diagnosing Gum Disease?
Yesterday I went in for my first dental exam for a very long time. I had a cleaning and a dental exam done.
When I saw the dentist, I mentioned that I had a slightly loose tooth. I showed him which one it was. The dentist asked if I had been hit there and I'd said "a few times" because I take martial arts. But before I could say that I didn't think the hits I took there were bad enough to do damage to my teeth, he more or less said that he wasn't that concerned with the tooth. He didn't wiggle it at all, nor measure any pockets for possible gum disease.
I've had some of the symptoms of gum disease in the past: swelling, bleeding gums when brushing or eating things like apples, bad breath, at one point the gum near the tooth in question got swollen really bad, looked like it had a different texture to it and was starting to pull away from the tooth a little. Once I started boosting my dental hygine this all went back to normal within 24 hours.
Should I just take the dentists word that its okay even though he didn't wiggle the tooth or test the gum with a measure for gum disease? I had a traditional teeth cleaning done and the only thing the dental hygenist mentioned to me was that my gums were inflamed from the plaque accumulated under the gums, but she never mentioned gum disease nor gum recession. I don't know if she happened to try to measure pockets either because I couldn't see what she was doing, but I was pretty sure it was just scaling and polishing.
Is gum disease something that is tested for every time you go into the dentist and maybe I just missed the hygenist doing the test? Wouldn't she have mentioned something to the dentist if she thought I needed to have my gum condition looked into? Would the dentist have tested me if he thought a gum problem might be an issue?
I just really want to make sure that the slightly loose tooth is a result of me getting smacked around in class and not something more serious such as gum disease.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong with me?
Hi
I have a range of health issues that are baffling doctors and dentists and I was wondering if anybody on here has the same or knows what may be the problem.
The main symptom I have is a fecal body odour. That is the smell of feces (poo) emanates from my skin. I wash regularly and I'm a very clean person. It's not a hygiene issue, it's something deeper rooted than that.
My secondary symptoms include:
-Hemmorhoids (Piles)
-Bleeding Gums - I have been to the dentist about this and he says there is no reason why I should have Gingivitis (bleeding gums). I hardly have any plaque on my teeth and I brush them well. I can alleviate the problem with good brushing, flossing and mouthwash, but it returns straight away if I stop flossing and using mouthwash.
-White coated tongue. Although I originally cured this problem with a special mouthwash it has returned. My tongue is coated in a white substance, possibly a yeast infection.
-An itchy recurring rash on my inner thighs
-Recurring athletes foot.
I realise some of these are normal health afflictions, but they all seem connected to a root cause which at the moment is a mystery.
Can anyone tell me what could be wrong, or suggest some treatment?
Thanks
Deodorant doesn't work for the smell. As I said, this isn't a hygiene problem but something internal that's causing the problem.
Deodorants and aftershaves only serve to make the smell worse believe it or not.
Gingivitis or Periodontitis?
My gums were swollen and red, for a real long time, and I also brushed the wrong way (too hard and back and forth; not the gentle motions you do) which made them bleed.
However now that I have adopted a rigourous routine I notice a huge difference: hardly any bleeding, gums looking pinker, not as tender. Would periodontits be like that? Or do I just have a bad case of gingivitis? The teeth aren't loose, there is no pus, spacing, or bad breath. I'm just scared it is serious.

Is it common for gums to bleed when one brushes with Arm & Hammer toothpaste?
I didn't have any trouble with bleeding gums when I was using Crest or Aquafresh toothpaste, but now that I'm using Arm & Hammer toothpaste, my gums take a beating every time I brush and my spit is colored pink. Why does this happen, and what can I do to make it stop?
