Do you think that this is Gingivitis?

Posted on January 16, 2011

(I have braces) Okay so these past days my gums toward the back of my mouth (my last two teeth before my molar) started to get a little inflamed. I saw my gum growing over one of my brackets so I panicked and started flossing and brushing for a while. Now my gums are still a little inflamed in that area and everytime I brush there I always spit out blood and I have blood on my tooth paste. It hurts to floss in that area and there's sometimes blood on it. My ortho said that blood on floss is good? But I read if I find blood on the string that it might be gingivitis. So I'm a little scared and please know it's only in one area. The top area of my mouth my two teeth before my molar. I don't think my gums by my molar is inflamed. Is this gingivitis? How do I get rid of it?
The gums growing over my bracket thing happened at night
that morning I went to my orthodontist for different rubber bands and a power chain. And one month before that I got my teeth cleaned

I just got braces this morning and cried for about 30 minutes because im about to be 19 and im going off to college on sunday WITH BRACES!
Since i just got them on they look really bad because the brackets aren't straight. I am really hoping they will line up just a little bit before sunday.
People with experience??

Will the floride whiten my teeth and make the spots where the brackets were?

Gingivitis caused by braces?

Posted on December 30, 2010

I just recently had my braces removed, middle of august. My orthodontist told me I had a bad case of gingivitis caused by my braces. My gums were literally swelling over my brackets. Ive been brushing my teeth and flossing (for the most part, sometimes I forget to floss) My gums have definitely improved quite a bit, but they are still somewhat swollen and red. What are some other things I can do to help make them better and quicker. My red swollen gums make my teeth look smaller and takes away from my new straight teeth :) any suggestions?

Questions about Gingivitis ?

I've had braces for almost a year, I've been doing everything right except for flossing, I know how to do it, I just don't usually have enough time, if i need to I will definitely make time, I'd just like to know is that; is gingivitis is completely reversible? (not permanent) and will flossing and using mouthwash completely reverse the gingivitis?
ok, some extra details, because now I'm not even too sure if it is gingivitis, it's like my gums have come down a little bit towards the brackets and they seem a little puffy, but they are still pretty hard, plus they appear to be the right color (which I assume is from brushing right), but will my gums go back up away from the brackets if I keep flossing and brushing regularly.

how can I encourage myself to brush my teeth?

I have braces and I'm hoping to get them off soon but I don't want those stains around the brackets. I have very weak willpower so I can't really make myself go brush my teeth if I don't want to. I've tried to build up my willpower and was unsuccessful, so how can I encourage myself to do it. I've bought myself a nice fancy toothbrush, which made me brush for about a week.
