What happens if you accidentally swallow some fluoride toothpaste?

Posted on March 28, 2011

So I was brushing my teeth this morning and right when I had begun brushing I swallowed some of the toothpaste. It's the '3D Crest White System(with fluoride)' and it clearly says to call poison control if more than a pea size is swallowed. The toothpaste I had swallowed was already foamy so I don't think it could have been a pea sized worth all together. All I know is that fluoride is terrible if swallowed and that now I have a slight tummy ache. </3
any advice?
Thank you!

Do you think it would be weird to use an electronic toothbrush in public restrooms?

Posted on March 22, 2011

I prefer using my electronic toothbrush than brushing my teeth with a manual brush but do you think it would be weird?
It's for after I eat at work. I like to keep my teeth clean and I'm doing Invisalign at the moment. I don't want to eat and then just rinse and put the trays in my mouth. ...I work at the airport.

Please tell me this isn't gingivitis..?

Posted on March 18, 2011

A few nights ago I was brushing my teeth when I went over a tooth, and it hurt really bad, and looked like there was a little scrape so I thought maybe I cut it on a chip or something, and thought nothing of it.

So the next night it hurt as well, and I skipped over that part of my gums until tonight, because it finally feels okay to go over but it's still sensitive and looks sorta strange. My gums are a little swollen underneath that tooth, but fine everywhere else. It looks as if the scrape has gotten a little bit bigger, and spread some too, but hardly any. I also brushed directly over it and it starting bleeding just a bit.

I'm just getting really worried, any ideas?

I have braces if that helps, but I brush twice a day, and use the mini brush they gave me to go in between each bracket. I floss a couple times a week, as well as use mouth wash every morning.

Why do I hate brushing my teeth?

Posted on March 16, 2011

Why do I hate brushing my teeth. I love the feeling of my mouth and my teeth feeling fresh afterwards and I like the taste of mint. I'm just too lazy to brush my teeth. I know I have too because a voice in my head is telling me if I don't my teeth will fall out but I just can't be bothered to brush them. Can someone please convince me to brush them...

10 points! :P

Do I have gingivitis?

Posted on March 12, 2011

I'm 13 and i have had braces since around december. recently, i havent brushed my teeth as much as i should have. Then, a couple nights ago i started brushing my teeth, and my gums bled a lot. the foam from my toothpaste was all redish pink. so i looked at my gums after and they were a blood red kind of color. I've been brushing my teeth and using listerine alot lately and the dark red color is a little faded in some places and isn't as dark over all, but i'm not really sure what it is. then, yesterday i got this canker sore. so if anybody could help and tell me what happened to my gums, and if the canker is related to it at all or not that would help alot

Is gingivitis and gum disease curable at all? I might have them – will regular brushing do the trick?

Posted on March 11, 2011

Her'es the thing: when I was little, I wasn't accustomed to daily brushing. Now I'm suffering the consequences but at least I have good habits when brushing my teeth.

Will my gums eventually repair themselves or are they set like that for life? I think this is causing bad breath - will daily brushing eventually go away too?
*will daily brushing eventually make this go away too?

P.S.: I haven't had a boyfriend/girlfriend because of this. I'm scared of what they might think of my teeth.

When do you think it's OK to start experimenting?

Tongue Piercing HELP? ASAP (with pictures)?

Posted on March 8, 2011

Okay so first off, I got my tongue pierced on Wednesday, with a professional kit - used an unopened sterile needle and all that good stuff. My tongue was supposed to be pierced with surgical stainless steel - I'm allergic to nickel, and I shouldn't be allergic to stainless steel but I've never found out for sure. My ears don't swell up or anything with it, if that makes a difference.
Anyways, today is Saturday, I was brushing my teeth all carefully and whatnot, and I noticed a blackish / greenish ring around the top ball, and the top ball was all scratched up and brown, IDK if you can see it in the picture:

The bottom doesn't have anything on it , but the webbing hurts, especially if I move my tongue. I can't lick the gum line of my upper front teeth. Is it pierced too far back?

So if my tongue IS having an allergic reaction to the metal, should I take it out and put a different barbell in, or leave it ? Or is there some home remedy I can do ? Please help ASAP , I'm worried.

Additional Info:
My tongue does hurt, but I assume that's normal. It's a little swollen, but my tongue didn't swell up very much at all, I could eat solid foods in little bites all of the days it's been pierced. I've been mouth washing (non alcoholic) after everything I eat, and I was using table salt soaks but I soon realized that I'm not supposed to do that, so I'm going to get non-iodized sea salt instead. I've only done the table salt twice.
also, idk if it matters but If I stick out my tongue too long it starts to drool. and if I have my mouth open without swallowing.

Canker sores… Possibly infected?

Posted on March 8, 2011

I have 3 canker sores on my lower jaw at the front part of it. So if I bend down my lip I can see them. I've been brushing my teeth constantly, flossing, and using mouthwash. They've been there for almost 3 weeks and it seriously starting to hurt. I know they are brought on with stress but I didn't have any stress 3 weeks ago. Is it infected? What is your way to get rid of canker sores?
