Obesity is a Major Issue in the United States (17% of Children are Obese)

Posted on August 31, 2011

Mount Sinai's Dr. Landrigan discusses how obesity has become an epidemic within the United States. The rates of obesity have tripled since the 1970s, and this has led to a significant increase in type 1 and type 2 diabetes as obese children are at a much higher risk of developing diabetes. Dr. Landrigan also provides tips on how to prevent obesity and the diabetes that commonly follows obesity. Studies are being conducted at the Children's Environmental Health Center to determine whether there is a link between common chemicals and obesity. What are your favorite all natural products and where do you buy them?

Posted on May 23, 2011

I love Burt's Bees products, and use them for face & hair. For my body I use organic virgin unrefined coconut oil or sweet almond oil, all of which I get at Wild Oats. For soaps (body, hand, kitchen & laundry) I get whatever Trader Joe's has that's natural & or organic, and then their Tom's of Maine toothpaste or Trader Joe's brand of toothpaste that has no flouride, I get there, too. I also love their sugar body scrubs. For deoderant, I get an all natural one (either the rock or regular tube deoderant) at Walmart, w/ no parabens, that's less than .00.

I have found that if you know where to shop, you can get all natural products for MUCH LESS than those commercial ones that contain all those chemicals.

What all natural products would you suggest (that you've tried) for hair, face & body?

Smiling without showing your teeth~?

Posted on May 21, 2011

Uhm… I kinda look weird when I smile without showing my teeth so when we have to take pictures or something, I always have to grin or show my teeth while smiling to look 'okay' but it kinda makes me uncomfortable so… how should I deal with this? Also… does it look weird because of the structure of some part of my face or teeth?

Oh yeah… does anyone know how to naturally (no chemicals or derma medicines) make lips redder? xD; I also have problems with the corners of my lips; they're dark for some unknown reason. I don't smoke or go out in the sun too much so I don't know why it's like that.

Have you ever used any of the teeth whitening products?

Posted on May 9, 2011

If you have let me know if you used the strips or the trays, how they worked, did they work, how fast does it work, is it worth the price. I'd like to try them but am suspicious of the chemicals.

Black girls that have gone natural by transitioning, did your straight hair fall out or break more than usual?

Posted on April 10, 2011

I had been using a texture softener (just for me) for over a year when I experienced hair loss during an application. This prompted me to stop using chemicals to keep my hair "manageable" and just go natural. I'm transitioning and my new growth has been growing for at least 3 months now. I notice my new growth gets very dry and very hard to comb so I wash/condition every weekend. I notice that when I'm washing my hair and combing the conditioner through, that my hair is still falling out! Or at least it seems. Is this normal while transitioning? I have these two textures and it's straighter hair that's coming out in the comb (wide tooth).

Does toothpaste actually help “banish” zits?

Posted on February 28, 2011

Ive heard that if you put a dab of toothpaste on a zit that the chemicals in the toothpaste will cause the zit to go away. Is this true? No sarcastic answers please. Just answer the question clearly.
