How long do the results from professional teeth whitening last?

Posted on April 14, 2011

I am getting my braces off during April break after 3 years, and my teeth have always been yellow-ish. My mom said I could have my teeth whitened professionally once because its expensive. i have heard it lasts 6-9 months but I was wondering if that applies to me because i don't drink any coffee or tea and i don't smoke.

i plan on using crest whitestrips afterwards to keep them white.

What are the health benefits of coffee?

Posted on March 31, 2011

A lot of people thinks coffee has more side effects than benefits. But, I beg to differ. Do you think coffee has its share of benefits or do you avoid it like a plague? What are the health benefits that we can reap from drinking coffee regularly?

What is the best teeth whitener you have used?

I have tried several. I have custom teeth trays. I need to get them white again as apparently my coffee/cigar habit is not doing me justice.

Give me your best recommendations.

If you're a dentist please answer! How can I whiten my teeth naturally?

Posted on February 24, 2011

I have teeth that aren't very white and kind of dull in color. I heard of using lemon juice but it is very acidic and I don't want to have acid erosion on my teeth. I tried baking soda about two or three times but I don't like how it feels. Is there a way to whiten my teeth temporarily (until I can afford professional whitening) that will last for a few hours if I don't eat or drink?

FYI: I brush, floss and rinse twice a day. I don't drink soda or coffee. I only drink water but occasionally eat crackers, chocolate or oranges.
Baking soda may work but according to the research I did and based on what actual dentists have said, baking soda is very abrasive. I don't want to damage my teeth, dude. Just whiten them.

Poor teeth – is it genetic?

Posted on February 23, 2011

I've had 11 cavaties over the past year. No one believes me when I say that I really do brush my teeth twice a day (1-2 minutes each), floss every day, and use Act fluoride rinse. My mom has had 4 root canals, my dad had all his teeth pulled when he was 17, could it be genetic? The dentists I've been to don't seem to think so, but clearly something is wrong.
I stopped drinking pop and coffee, stopped eating snacks between meals. That helped for a year or two, but now the cavaties are back. Most often in the molars.
I did have a child 19 months ago and the hormones can last up to 3-5 years from a pregnancy, could it be that?
Please help, my dentist thinks I'm an idiot and this is embarrassing. Any suggestions?
