Are canker sores related to Herpes Simplex Type 1?

Posted on April 13, 2011

I've read a lot of confusion on here about this, in all of the questions that I've searched out and read. First of all, a lot of people don't seem to know the difference between a canker sore and a *cold* sore, which are indeed two different things. A canker sore is an ulcer inside of the mouth, and a cold sore appears on the outside of the lips or around the mouth. So for the record, I do not get *cold sores*...I get canker sores.

Are *canker* sores, not cold sores (aka feverblisters)...related to Herpes Simplex Type 1?

What is tooth enamel?

Posted on September 10, 2010

I've never understood what tooth enamel is. Is it the whole of the tooth that we can see. i.e. not the part dug in to the gums, or is on the outside of the part we can see, like some sort of coating. Can someone please end this confusion I have with tooth enamel. Also, my teeth look sort of see-through, I assume this is damaged tooth enamel?
