My Incisors (front teeth) are eroding exposing dentine. How can I stop this?

Posted on November 20, 2010

Hello! My incisors are thinning, becoming translucent and sharp. They have curly edges and the ridges on the edges seem to lead to fine cracks. I have had symptoms of GERD(Gastroesophageal reflux disease) for a long time. But of late the symptoms have abated, nevertheless the erosion is constant. Doctors I've consulted really don't know how teeth could erode. They think it's absurd. They don't know anything about GERD. That's how doctors are trained in India. My incisors are getting shorter. I don't grind my teeth. Is there any simple way I can hinder this erosion. Is there a way to cap my teeth because they seem pretty fragile now and i don't like short incisors. Thank you.

What is the best electric toothbrush for someone with lots of crowding teeth?

Posted on September 26, 2010

I haven't gotten braces yet so my bottom teeth are really messed up. There's just not enough room for all those teeth down there. There's are a ton of adult teeth coming in behind my baby teeth. So, as you could guess, it's a madhouse down there with my small jaw with no room and too many teeth growing every-which-way, so i have a lot of little spaces where my teeth come together to make corners or overlap and make a little crack where all this plaque is building up and whenever i go to the dentist they tell me that i have a lot of build-up in those cracks and i always tell them i will try harder but i only do that while i remember that i need to try harder. So a couple days.
At my last dental check-up my dentist asked me if i used an electric toothbrush then made a weird face when i told her i didn't. Then later on a totally different subject she told me that i, once again, had a lot of build-up in my bottom row, she told me that i probably brushed like any kid with more average teeth should but that because my bottom row was so full of these little build-up spots i needed to work harder at brushing so now i think it is time for an electric brush to help me out but i need one that will work well in my build-up spots. Anyone that's the same way and has a toothbrush that works? Or does anyone just know about this and knows a brush that will work. Battery powered would be the best but it's ok if it's just re-chargable. Thanks in advance!

Brown little cracks on teeth? what do i do , what are they?

Posted on September 7, 2010

I have a tincy brown little crack in between my top 2 big teeth and i also have one a bit further down the line on another tooth.

They are not stains that cover the whole tooth, just these little cracks that look like a chip on a windscreen or like a little splintery thorn.

They cause me no pain and my teeth are apparently healthy, the odd bit of plaque here and there sure but no major concern.

So yeah , these tiny brown splinters....what are they?!
i dont smoke, i do drink fizzy drinks a lot though and i wouldnt be suprised if the answers highlight this as a cause.

No rubbish posts like u shld take better care of your teeth !! thats a given

cheers.

What teeth whitening product is better?

Posted on August 18, 2010

I am about to whiten my teeth and wanted to get some answers from people who have used some of these products before. I am debating on using the Dr. Collins All White System, or the crest white strips. I am leaning towards the Dr. Collins kit, because you get to create your own custom tray allowing the gel to get into the cracks of your teeth. Plus it seems like trays in general are easier to use then the strips. Please let me know what your experience has been. Thank you in advance.

what is the dark brown on your teeth (like in the cracks of your teeth)?

Complaint / question about teeth enamel woes?

Posted on July 19, 2010

I suffer from a deformity of my enamel, as well as really weak enamel. Basically, I have discoloration (orange-brown), and rough texture. My dentist and I tried to resolve this with micro-abrasion, which smoothed out the texture but had no effect on the discoloration. We also treated my front four teeth, which were not deformed, in order to take out stains and white spots from over-fluoridation.

The side affects are killing me - over sensitivity and a spot on my gums which appears to have either died or been extremely damaged. I noticed tonight that the sensitivity is only on the biting surface of the front two teeth, and that it aligns exactly with some hair-line cracks which I never noticed before. So now I am extremely depressed. I feel as if I have ruined my teeth.
I can't help but think "why me"? All I wanted was to have slightly nicer teeth, and to put a stop to being really embarrassed about smiling or talking. I just wanted to put a stop to people asking me (very rudely, might I add!) whether I brush my teeth. (Sometimes people just out right tell me to brush them, or just cruelly make fun of me.)

Does any one have this same problem/deformity with their teeth/enamel? Did you manage to fix it? if so, how?

What are somethings I can do to help my enamel and the strength of my teeth?

Posted on July 15, 2010

I'm only 20 years old, and though my teeth look nice up close they are cracked and the cracks have progressively gotten worse. My teeth have always been cavity prone since I was a kid, but now I'm starting to take things a little more seriously. My husband and mother in law have noticed the cracks in my teeth have gotten progressively worse in the last few months. So I know I'm not just being paranoid. Is there anything I can do to help stop this and possibly turn things around?

What should you do when your enamel on your tooth is completely gone?

Posted on July 14, 2010

or before it's completely gone? obviously go to the dentist but what are the options? are my teeth going to crumble and break off where the cracks are?
