Posted on August 23, 2010

My teeth are coffee stained yellowish. The dentisit said that for 220.00 I can get a mold made to fit my teeth and they would give me the bleach to do as many times as I wanted at home. the dental assistant showed me her pearly white teeth and I was impressed. will it work that well for everyone?

HELP!! Explain my Dental Insurance? w/ details?

Posted on August 19, 2010

Ok so I have an dentist appointment of Thursday for a regular check up, I havent been to the dentist in a couple of years (no more than 3) the dentist I use to go to closed or moved - so i'm going to a new dentist on Thurs. I have only asked for them to do a regular check up to see if I need my wisdom teeth extracted (which I will) and to see if I need any other work done (which I do) but right now the main thing is to remove my wisdom teeth.. so I spoke to the dental assistant and she said they will do X-Rays & etc. due to me being a new patient

Anyway just on Thursday according to my employers insurance policy below how much will I be paying that day?? and how much will I pay when I do return to have my wisdom teeth extracted?? what is the deductible fee for? and when do I pay?

I am the only person on my dental insurance and like I said I have only asked for a check up on Thursday so that the dentist can tell me what I need to have done.. and hopefully set up an appointment for next week to have the wisdom teeth get removed...... thanks for your help

Posted on July 18, 2010

Ok so i work im a dental assistant for community health and we recently went to go do oral health screenings for pre-schoolers. I have been feeling kinda sick for the last 3 days i have a cough, sore throat, stuffy nose and i am super tired, but i dont have a fever...at least i font think i do. I basically just feel pretty crappy. i was just watching the news and it said that one of the schools that we went to had cases of the swine flu but it didnt say when they happened. Im kinda freaked out because even though we wear a mask the virus is small enough to get through them....Can somebody please put their selves in my place and tell me if i should go to the doctor or if i should just stay home and ride it out.....i kinda dont want to spread it and make anything worse but i also dont want it to get any worse......thanks

Is a dental cleaning supposed to give you whiter teeth?

Posted on July 13, 2010

I just got a dental cleaning done today. I can feel the plaque removed from my teeth, but is it supposed to whiten my teeth? My teeth still look kind of yellow, though I think it's better than before.

The procedure went like this: the dental assistant spent most of the time picking at my teeth. Then she applied a paste that she said was similar to toothpaste, and then gave me a mouthwash that was supposed to be pure flouride.

Gingivitis?

Posted on July 12, 2010

The last time I went to the dentist, they told me that I was beginning to have signs of gingivitis. I always brush twice a day and use mouthwash usually once a day. They told me not flossing was the problem. I'm a little worried because I'm going back to see the dentist on Thursday and I don't want to go in there and get yelled at again. I've been flossing whenever I remember (it's hard to remember when you haven't been brought up with that habit), but I'd kind of like to be prepared for an angry lecture or not. My gums don't bleed when I floss anymore. The only symptoms I had last time was bleeding when flossing. Can anyone give any other symptoms or suggestions for making sure I don't have gingivitis? I've looked at pictures, but all I've really been able to find is very badly onset gingivitis, which doesn't help except to terrify me. The area where the gums cover my teeth is a lighter shade of pink than the area that surrounds that area... is that bad?
I think I saw the dentist six months ago... should the gingivitis have gone away since then?

...and the dentist didn't "yell" yell at me...it was mainly the dental assistant... and she acted as though I didn't deserve to have teeth.

Should wisdom teeth be removed during a bout of gingivitis?

Posted on July 9, 2010

I have a minor bout with ginigivitis and I am scheduled to have my wisdom teeth removed this Friday. The dental assistant said I was good to go for the surgery.

I have had gingivitis for the past several months and went through four treatments including a debridement. I've used prescription mouthwash but recently ran out of it (my gums started to get a little red after that but I bought some regular mouthwash today).

I've brushed and flossed and mouthwashed religiously twice a day almost all the time. My gums look a little better (a lot better than several months ago). Should I go ahead with the surgery or should I call the surgeon and talk to him about it first? I specifically requested this time off from work and I don't want to have to cancel the appointment and re-schedule again.

I am going to drop off my prescriptions for Vicodin, a mouth rinse, and amoxicillin this week.
By the way, the dentist said that they should be removed ASAP since they were causing me some pain.
