Gingivitis/Swollen gums not getting any better?

Posted on March 9, 2011

For pretty much my whole life i've had puffy/bright red gums. At the dentist during my check-ups they would bleed really bad and hurt when the assistant would floss them.

For the past 2-2.5 weeks i've been brushing with an electric toothbrush, and flossing once a day before I go to bed. My gums no longer bleed when I brush and floss, but are still somewhat sensitive and hurt when I floss my front teeth. After two weeks of this routine they are still puffy and bright red. The swelling hasnt seem to go down much at all. I brush for 3 minutes twice a day with an electric toothbrush, and I make sure to massage the gums gently. WHen I floss afterwards, there is usually no plaque on the floss or anything. What could the problem be?????
EDIT: I am 21 years old. Not taking any medication and I usually breathe through my mouth. Theres a very high chance I do at night as well

is using an electronic toothbrush bad for masturbating?

im a girl and i just started to masturbate and i want to try it out with an electric toothbrush. That will probably be the only thing i can use that wont make my parents suspicious. Is using an electronic toothbrush safe?

Dentist:is this a okay dental regime?

Posted on February 18, 2011

I would like it if a dentist could preferably help me here? Well, I am 13 and I have always kind of "obsessed" over my teeth. I had my braces taken out at new year and my teeth are perfectly straight and white. No stains or nothing. My dentist said my teeth are one of the whitest shades you can get, so there is no point in whitening them. It wont really make a difference, so I'm wasting my money.People say I am too obsessed my teeth are perfect, but I just love white straight teeth. Ok so anyway, I was wondering if I maybe brush too much? This is my regime:
Night~
I use Colgate Anti-Tartar Plus Whitening*
I brush my teeth with my electric toothbrush (Oral-B) for 3-4 minutes, if i only do it for 2 i feel like they aren't clean. And i rinse
Then i use a normal toothbrush and brush my teeth again for around a minute. Rinse
Then i floss all spaces between my teeth and the very back ones. I can't do my front six or bottom because i have a wire behind them which is coming off in march. then i rinse my teeth for any remaining plaque.
Then i use Listerine's Total Care Clean Mint mouthwash.
Morning~
Basically the same as above i just miss out the flossing i do that every night.
I brush my teeth twice a day and i eat chewing gum throughout the day as I am at school.
i was wondering if maybe this is too much and i am brushing away my enamel? And also, any recomendations to a good whitening toothpaste that also removes any plaque? I am very interested in dental stuff and I am planning on becoming one when i am older. Thanks for reading x
Also, at the bottom of my front four teeth and bottom four teeth they are slightly clear. I know it's not a very big thing, but should i worry about it? because it is ever so slightly clear and i have jagged bits but i know they will wear down in time. Thanks again! x
