Brown little cracks on teeth? what do i do , what are they?

Posted on September 7, 2010

I have a tincy brown little crack in between my top 2 big teeth and i also have one a bit further down the line on another tooth.

They are not stains that cover the whole tooth, just these little cracks that look like a chip on a windscreen or like a little splintery thorn.

They cause me no pain and my teeth are apparently healthy, the odd bit of plaque here and there sure but no major concern.

So yeah , these tiny brown splinters....what are they?!
i dont smoke, i do drink fizzy drinks a lot though and i wouldnt be suprised if the answers highlight this as a cause.

No rubbish posts like u shld take better care of your teeth !! thats a given

cheers.

will my teeth be stained when my braces are off?

I clean my teeth twice a day with a normal toothbrush, then with a small toothbrush to get in between the wires, then i also use a mouthwash containing fluoride. I only realized my teeth might end up stained when my close cousin got braces 6 months after i did and he takes it really seriously...he doesn't ever drink fizzy drinks, or juice, doesnt even eat crusty bread or occasionally have some chocolate! I drink SUGAR FREE fizzy drinks almost every day, and juice, and i have chocolate occasionally. I am petrified of my teeth being stained when my braces come off in about a year. Even though i clean my teeth thoughrily, will my teeth be stained?! :S

How to get cleaner teeth?

What toothpaste is good? I heard ones with fluoride are good like colgate and what about mouthwash?
I have to see the dentist soon, I'm determined to cut down on fizzy drinks and sweets :)

Do we really need fluoride in the water?

On BBC news this morning Dr. Rosemary was extolling the virtues of mass fluoridization but the person employed to bring us the other side of the argument had a very convincing reply as to why we should not be given mass chemical treatments such as this. What do you think? Are we copying America in the cheap option to protect children's teeth? Would it be just as relevant to ban fizzy drinks for children as to medicate with fluoride the whole population and what effect would this have on the ecological system, it may be good for us but not for animals?
