A layer of my ename/tooth chipped off?

Posted on May 31, 2011

I'm not really sure what just happened and right now I'm currently hysterical, so I'll try to sum this up.

I was sitting down and I ran my tongue over my front tooth and it felt rough on the very top. I picked at it (thinking it was something in my teeth or something) and something chipped off. It felt like an eggshell, and peeled off like peeling an eggshell. I'm guessing it was my enamel? Now there's about a 2-3 millimeter thick gap indent where it came out. It's small, but there.

I've been to the dentist recently being told that I have softened enamel due to illnesses and medicines prescribed and stuff like that. They gave me fluoride to put on my teeth but I never got around to it. I brush regularly and floss every other day. It wasn't hurting, but now it's hurting a little bit. (i'm not sure if that's just in my mind though)

What do I do? Tomorrow's Sunday so I doubt I can get an appointment anywhere. I'm also leaving for a week long school trip Wednesday and I have a full schedule Tuesday.

Please help ):

All of a sudden my teeth started to pain me? At home remedy to cure? Could it be the toothpaste used?

Canker sores? Do I have Herpes?

Posted on April 22, 2011

I have three sores in my mouth (Not on lips or outside mouth in any way). One of them is on the top left of my gum, it's quite big and does hurt when irritated. This is a canker sore, I'm sure of it. There is also a little sore on the gum below my bottom front tooth on the right side. It's incredible painful, and doesn't quite feel/taste like the other canker sore. It hurts when touched by anything. There is also another sore the the opposite side of the tooth from the previous one I described. It feels like just a damaged gum from being stabbed by a chip, but I'm not entirely sure.

Could this be herpes in any way at all? I'm a little worried.
I found this on a website:
"Canker sores, also called aphthous ulcers, are small, shallow lesions that develop on the soft tissues in your mouth — under your tongue, inside your cheeks or lips, and at the base of your gums. Unlike cold sores, canker sores don't occur on the surface of your lips and aren't contagious. They can be very painful, however, and can make eating and talking difficult.

Most canker sores go away on their own in a week or two. Check with your doctor or dentist if you have unusually large or painful canker sores or canker sores that don't seem to heal. "

It sounds like I just have canker sores, and not cold sores.

Sore, swollen spot on hard palate right behind front teeth – what could it be?

Posted on April 7, 2011

Hi!

I have a single spot right behind my right upper front tooth that swells up regularly. It's basically one of the rugae at the front of my hard palate. (The rugae, as far as I know, are the ridges behind the upper front teeth that cover the hard palate).

It keeps swelling up, and sometimes it gets pretty sore. It usually stays that way for 3-7 days, goes away for about a week, and then comes back again. Normally, I cannot feel or detect the rugae with my tongue, but when this one is swollen, I can definitely feel it. My girlfriend also seems to recognize if it is swollen or not. Personally, I cannot see it (with a mirror) but can definitely feel it.

This has been going on for about 6 months now.

I first thought it was gingivitis caused by plaque, but I then went to a dental hygienist and got my teeth cleaned professionally - which I initially thought had fixed it, but it came back about a week or two later.

The strange thing is that I can brush the spot with a toothbrush or touch it with my finger, and it doesn't seem that sensitive at all, but I constantly feel it even when I try not to concentrate on it. Eating or cold drinks make it feel better for a very short period. Smoking, as you can imagine, aggravates it, which is why I have cut down considerably. Drinking warm (not hot) tea also aggravates it sometimes. I drink alcohol extremely rarely.

I've tried so many different things, and I'm starting to feel really frustrated by it. I also bought a protective mouth gel that seemed to help at the start, but it's not so effective any more.

A few weeks ago, I went to the dentist, who couldn't find anything unusual, even said my gums looked very healthy. She thought I could have "burning mouth syndrome" and prescribed me vitamin B supplements. I've been taken those now for about 3 weeks.

My "symptom" has come back once since then, and it was actually fairly painful. Usually, it's not really that painful, just extremely annoying, and the fact that it's been going for so long now is really starting to get me down. It stayed for about 4 days and went again, but now it's back. At the moment, it's irritated and swollen, but not sore (yet).

I have another dentist appointment soon. Not sure how that's going to go, but in the meantime, any advice, tips or suggestions would be much appreciated.

I know this is a long one, so, thanks for reading!

I have a crooked teeth =/ and i wished i had a perfect smile.?

Posted on March 6, 2011

I`m 15 and i have crooked teeth. My teeth aren`t terribly crooked. If i turn to a certain angle, they "seem" straight. But if i turn my face to the other side my front tooth is obviously not straight x[ . And my problem is that i like to smile, and i smile a lot cause i never think about my teeth when im smiling.. i just can`t help but SMILE. However, i`m just wondering if anyone thinks that someone with crooked teeth should just stop showing their teeth and start smiling with their mouths closed. I mean.. i want to look attractive, but confident at the same time even with teeth that aren`t so perfect. And my family can`t afford braces either so that`s off my to do list..

can i get braces with a little case of gingivitis?

Posted on January 27, 2011

ok, i went to the orthodontist like a month ago, and they gave me the "regular" checkup. they looked at my teeth and said i had a small case of gingivitis.
one of my bottom front tooth is a little "long" than its supposed to be, but he said that was probably because that tooth is in a "overbite" position, so every time i bite down on it, it just causes that.

im getting spacers in 1 week and braces in 2 weeks, does that mean that he didn't think it wasn't anything serious that i shouldn't have braces? could my teeth take that much pressure? how can i get rid of a small case of gingivitis?

cut on gums or gingivitis?

Posted on January 22, 2011

I am worried that I have gingivitis.

A while ago I cut my gums by my front tooth while I was flossing. It healed without incident but every once in a while it will become irritated, a little swollen and red but doesn't bleed. No other spots on my gums are red or irritated. I brush twice a day and rinse with either tea tree mouth wash or hydrogen peroxide (3%). I go for a teeth cleaning this week. Could it be that I am just irritating it by brushing too hard? Just need some piece of mind. Thanks!
