Why do I have such a hard time brushing my tongue?
Every time I go to brush my teeth in the morning, find a bit of a plaque-like substance on my tongue. I've been told on several occasions that this is normal since I just woke up, so I brush it off as best as I can. However, there's always some on the back of my tongue near the throat, and every time I try to brush back there, I gag. My mom doesn't let me use her mouthwash, so I'm stuck just leaving it there. I know the gag is caused by a reflex to the toothbrush. So is there any way I can get that off of the back of my tongue? And is there any possibility the gag reflex isn't normal?
what are throat boogers?
some people ask what are those God Awful smelly white or yellow chunky looking things that come out of your mouth when you cough sometimes. I like to call em throat boogers.
Whatever you do, don't smash em in a paper towel then smell it. LOL! I almost puked a few times from doing that.
Anyhow I think it comes from plaque build up. not sure. I know that this is a major cause for bad breath in a lot of people though. A lot of people think that lack of brushing teeth, flossing, infections is the all cause for bad breath, but there are other things that cause it too. Like throat boogers. I know how to get rid of them too.
If you have a strong gag reflex, I wouldn't encourage anyone to try and get rid of them forcefully. If you're not careful ridding of them yourself with your finger, you could do a little damage to your eardrum, since the area is close by where they reside.
The main question is, why do they have to get there in the first place and how do they form?
they aren't only stinky, and everyone gets em, but they can irritate the back of the throat as well. ever wonder why the back of your upper mouth itches at times? well there ya go. you have crap building up in your tonsils or whatever that part of the mouth is for probably a few weeks or months old. gross isn't it. but they do need to be rid of somehow.
She has poor personal hygiene?
My roommate is 18, and she does not like to brush her teeth. A few weeks ago we were talking about brushing our teeth, and she mentioned that she hated brushing her teeth because it made her gag. I however, have excellent oral hygiene. Since then, I've noticed that her teeth are getting really dirty looking. I mean, her teeth have a plaque buildup and she's got dark spots between her teeth which look to me like they could be cavities, but they could very well be bits of food too. The teeth to the right and left of her two front teeth are grey in colour, whereas a few weeks ago they just looked slightly stained. And her breath stinks...horribly. I wanted to mention to her that she needs to brush her teeth more often, as in at least twice a day. However, I don't get a chance to! At first I thought maybe it was just her teeth (teeth can vary in colour too), but when I tidied up the bathroom last Friday, I put her toothbrush in a certain location and position in our caddy, and it hasn't moved since...yikes! What should I say?
Keep in mind she says she has a strong gag reflex!
Also, she only washes her hair once a week, but she gets really bad dandruff. Her hair is often greasy and smelly by the third day of not washing. How can I get her to wash her hair more often without making her feel bad?
What tool would you recommend to use during routine tongue cleaning?
My husband can't use a toothbrush on his tongue due to bad gag reflex. We are aware that tongue cleaning is very important to promote health and whatever suggestions are appreciated. Also, if you recommend a tongue scrapper where have you found it in the store (rather than online)?

Thank you so much for all the help!
I have constant bad breath and it’s making me insane. I’ve had it since I was little. Please help?
I've had this problem since I was 10 years old. I'm 25 now and have been to numerous doctors and they can't find what the problem is. I'm at my wits end! I've just ordered a probiotics kit from TheraBreath hoping that it will solve the problem, but the earlier products from that line didn't work for me before so I must have an extremely stubborn case of bad breath.
It doesn't smell like your normal poop breath. It smells like rotting cheese/milk. It also smells when I breathe out of my nose. I brush and floss twice a day, use mouthwash, go to the dentist regularly and my mouth is in perfect health. I do notice, however, that I have a very bad whitish/yellow coating on the back of my tongue that I can't reach with a tongue scraper because of my gag reflex. Could this be the cause?
I've noticed that sometimes if I have very bad plaque build up and floss my teeth, the plaque that comes off smells like my bad breath.
Can anybody help me or offer suggestions besides the obvious gum, mints, brushing, flossing, etc? Because I do all of that. I've suffered with this problem my whole life and fear that I'm going to be an old cat lady because nobody will ever love me due to my bad breath. HELP!
