I had braces, will whitening my teeth leave squares?

Posted on April 11, 2011

About 2 yrs ago I finally got my braces removed. I have to say my dentist didn't do that good of a job cleaning the glue off. I can still feel the glue on several of my teeth. He basically just filed each section of glue down so it wasn't so thick. I really want to have some type of teeth whitening procedure done but I'm worried about having yellow spots from the glue. What should I do?

Teeth whitening gel and permanent retainer?

Posted on March 27, 2011

I am using the Opalescence 20% trays. I accidentally used too much gel and it got on my permanent retainer. I am worried that it may dissolve or harm the glue and the wire. Is this true and should I be concerned? Thanks!

So if you know any masks or things like that, that will remove black heads please share.

A problem with my braces!!?

Posted on December 12, 2010

One of my brackets partially fell off. I saw that where the bracket used to be, it kind of looks PLAQUE!!! I usually brush my teeth pretty good too! Could it be the glue my orthodontist used to keep the brackets on?

Does denture paste cause a bad taste in the mouth? What can be done about the guminess when removing denture?

Posted on December 3, 2010

A friend of mine finds that there is a taste associated with putting in dentures after using denture cream. Reducing the amount used is not the solution as the cream not last and has to be reapplied. Denture wafers advertised to bond is paste too. You add water.Contrary to advertisements it does not last/bond.When this person removes the dentures at night there is guminess that a toothbrush/mouthwash does not succeed in removing. Brushing the tongue and gums/gargling does not get rid of the taste.Does this 'paste/glue' affect the body after being used over a period of time? How do dentures affect the love life of individuals? Please help by offering suggestions and experiences.

White spots after braces?

Posted on December 2, 2010

I currently have braces, and will likely have them for another year.
I clean my theeth twice daily, I have an electric brush and a manual one if I'm desperate (ie in the morning, electric brush runs out of power before I'm finished). I also have a small manual brush designed to get under brackets. I also use superfloss every evening and a flouride mouthwash 3 times daily. I rinse my mouth out after every meal, ideally with mouth wash but sometimes I'm stuck with water.

My question/problem is that I have noticed, when using those chewable tablets to highlight plaque, that there are some areas I cannot get to even with my smaller brush. I'm worried that I will end up with white spots because I can't get rid of all the plaque, even with mouth wash. I'm buying a spiral brush next week to see if that will help to clean under/behind brackets and I hope it will. Are there any other brushes that help?
I have also noticed when I use the plaque stainers that a few teeth have a line of plaque along the glue where the bracket is attached. I can't get at it and I don't know if a spiral brush would do anything different because there is nothing in the way other than glue. Is there a way to get at plaque that is right at the glue, or should I rely on mouth wash and hope the white spots aren't too bad?

What kind of treatments are avaliable for white spots? I wanted to get my teeth whitened afterwards but would that be a bad idea with white spots? (I understand bleaching just makes white spots whiter and still stand out).
If the white spots are a sign of decay then whitening tothpaste will have little effect. I've been warned anything whitening when the spots are there will just whiten the teeth and the spots, meaning they still stand out :(
I know I have to 'clean every corner' but I have scrubbed at it with three types of brush, manual, electric and a small manual designed for things like this. I still can't seem to get at it and obviously its going to turn into a white spot. Odly enough neither my dentist or orthodontist have mentioned it which worries me.
WHAT type of brush SHOULD I use to get rid of the plaque hiding right on the glue? I want to at least stop any dammage getting worse.

What is this white stuff on my teeth? It was never there before?

Posted on October 8, 2010

I got braces like 5-ish months ago, and before my braces it was never there.
Theres this hard off-white stuff around the bottom of some of my teeth.
Like, where they touch the gums.
It doesn't brush off. But I can kinda scrape it off?
IT IS NOT THE GLUE. I'm 100% sure of that.
I know not brushing your teeth could probably cause this, but i'm 99% sure it's not from that.
I brush them 3 times a day, use mouthwash twice and floss once a day.
So it's not plaque either.
What is it and how can I make it go away?
I use a little pipe-cleaner like brush and brush under the wire in between all the teeth too.

My braces won't stay glued to my teeth. Alternative for massive problems?

Posted on September 28, 2010

I've had my braces on for about 2 weeks now. And about 8 brackets have popped off in total because they won't stay glued to my teeth. Apparently I have an awkward tooth enamel, so the glue doesn't stick.
My top teeth are very spaced out, so I don't know what else could fix these problems beside braces. What are some good alternatives to braces?

What can I do if I am unable to floss due to dental treatment?

Posted on September 19, 2010

Hello! I had a front lower tooth coated with filling today and now some of the bonding material is between my teeth. I am unable to floss in between my teeth now what should I do? Can I buy a metal pick and try to scrape the glue out or what? Is the glue going to eventually loosen up on it's own? What do I need to do?

Do I still floss with braces when there's still glue between my teeth?

Posted on September 17, 2010

I already know how to floss with braces on, but there is still glue between my teeth. When I try to floss, it hurts a lot and I can see some of the glue between them tearing apart.

Do I still go on with flossing even though it hurts?
