Obsessive gum picking?

Posted on September 4, 2011

Yes I realize it's unhealthy and "weird". But ever since I was a kid (I'm 24 now) I liked to pick my gums and make them bleed. SICK yes I know, stfu don't leave worthless answers.

I used to do it was my finger nails, but since i "grew up" and realized that there could be thousands of germs under your finger nails.. I just use tooth picks. But I still find myself doing it.

It kind of hurts, but only slightly.. and for whatever reason, I like making the gums that meet my teeth bleed. It's usually the front/back bottom 6 teeth and the top canines.

I will do it without even realizing, and when I realize I'm doing it, i gradually stop because I start thinking logically about how unhealthy it must be and about gum erosion..

But wtf, does anyone else do this?

Tooth and Gum Problems?

Posted on August 8, 2011

Lately I've had a lot of problems with my teeth. I went to the orthodontist for the first time about six or seven months ago and she discovered that I had really bad enamel erosion. My orthodontist thought I was bulimic but I'm not, and I don't have acid reflux so I don't know whats causing that problem. Then last month I went to the dentist and one of my teeth had turned gray and I have to have a root canal. My dentist said it could be because I hit my tooth on something but I have no reccollection of doing that. And now, just yesterday, I discovered two black spots on my gums. One is right on the base of my gum and tooth, and the other is on the inside of my gums. I looked it up, and it said it could be an amalgam tattoo, but the only metal I have in my mouth are my braces, and I think I have one filling on my top teeth. So my question is, what is going on with my teeth?

What are the health benefits of gum?

Posted on June 24, 2011

I don't know...I like gum and sometimes think that it is a waste of my money for gum. I heard that there are a couple of benefits to gum other than to freshen breath. What are they?
Lol, Jen, I just spat out my gum! I really don't want TMJ! My jaw hurts! Thanks for that info.

DIY smiley piercing? A little advice?

Posted on June 17, 2011

Before anyone starts bashing me , I know what I am doing . The needle is/will be sterilized with a flame , then put in alcohol .

Anyway I have a few questions? -- I only plan to wear the smiley for a few days , because I know it can cause gum erosion and how it will probably reject. So i just wanted to have some fun with it.

- Can you compare the pain to anything? // If you have yours done?
- Does it matter exactly where the piercing is put on the piece of skin/gum material? ( i dont remember the word )
- Is it hard to get the needle through?
- I smoke , Does the smoke bother it .
- I also brush my teeth , lol . Does toothpaste bother it?
Just pierced it witha saftey pin , Sterilized.

It didnt hurt at all .and I have low pain tolerence.

SHOULD I WHITEN MY TEETH?

Posted on May 19, 2011

my teeth has always been kind of yellow esp after i got on and off my braces and plus im pale skinned (being asian) so it emphasizes it even more. SO i want to whiten my teeth with crest whitestrips my dentist offered to do it for me using this solar power system but first of all i dont reallyt rust it and 2nd of all its freaking expensive like 300$ and he said i could just use the whitestrips myself at home.

so i went to costco and bought myself a box of whitestrips im assuming costco has already tested out numerous brands/types of whitenings strips and picked the best one so i trust them. but im not sure about the amount of damage whitening my teeth can do to my teeth can anyone offer me any insight on this topic?? THANKS so much

also ive hearda bout trident's whitening gum.. and theres also whitening toothpaste.. do those actually work?? i dont think so cuz ive tried them both

What could cause rectal bleeding and sudden outbreak of canker sores together?

Posted on May 17, 2011

My mom has had this problem for almost a month, and she is very hard headed. Refuses to seek help. Rectal bleeding that comes and goes, and when it comes it's more than the previous one. Numerous canker sores at once at her gum, tongue, soft palate, and inner cheek and lip all at once. She's been tired, also from refusing to eat due to the pain. She doesn't feel well overall. Anyone ever had such an experience? What happened? What caused it?
