Sore/Slightly Puffy gums around wisdom tooth and under/side of tongue sore?
Hi, so I really like to take care of my teeth. Brush 3 times a day since Im home-schooled, fluoride when needed, flossing. Dentists visits all that. But I just noticed within the last day or so that the left side of my mouth was sore on the inside of my gums closest to my tongue towards the back. At first I thought it was a bump on the side of my tongue, then I thought it was from something I ate that scraped my gum because it feels like it's scratched but upon some inspection with my(clean) fingers and a flashlight and mirror, that the area where my wisdom teeth are supposed to come in was slightly puffy and it's sore if I sort of press my tongue or finger back there. Now the very back, bottom side of my tongue is sore too. What's going on? I told my mom and she just said to take some ibuprofen and put some oral spray stuff to numb it if it hurt too bad. But I'm concerned because I'm a worry wart. I'm almost 16 btw and my other wisdom tooth/side of mouth is just fine. And I have no other health issues. I'm on a Birth Control Pill(trinessa) for acne/the benefits and I take an oral antibiotic for acne. But other than that I'm healthy and have had no problems like this before. Please help, it hurts pretty badly when I eat .___.
Can I get rid of gingivitis with braces on?
I think my gingivitis might be pretty bad. Most areas will bleed if I brush hard and almost everywhere is swollen pretty bad. There's still space between the brace cement and the gum but in some places not much.
I think maybe I should request to my orthodontist that my braces be taken off until I can fix it because some areas are so swollen that it's very hard to floss - I think if I really flossed those areas it would simply cut through the gum because I can't reach the sides.
I feel very discouraged because I know I'm supposed to floss but it's very hard to and I don't know what else I need to do to get rid of it. And my parents don't want to take me seriously when I try to explain it to them : /
I'm more concerned of the health of my gums and teeth than whether or not they are lined up perfectly...
I realized that it sounds like it's very advanced gingivitis when I read my description, but it's not THAT bad (yet).
howbout flossing?
what should i do to prevent bad breath?
i wear a retainer, but i think i have bad breath; it doesn't come from the retainer. i can't chew gum because it'll get stuck to my retainer. is it ok to take my retainer out for a while and chew gum and then put it back in? or should i do something else?
How can I cure my bad breath?
I don't see where this is coming from. I brush my teeth regularly with that Crest with Scope toothpaste stuff, and I floss and use a fluoride mouthwash. My dentist says my mouth and teeth are really healthy, and I don't eat spicy/smelly foods. I don't smoke and I'm not sick. Mints only help for about 10 minutes, and I can't chew gum because I have braces. How can I cure this? Should I start eating differently, or drinking more water? Does it have something to do with my braces? help!
