I’ve got really swollen gums…?

Posted on January 5, 2011

I know it's wrong not to do it, but flossing isn't something I incorporate into my hygiene regime! So today for some strange reason I just decided to give it a go (wish I hadn't now!).

Anyway, I flossed my teeth in the afternoon, and as soon as I had finished dinner a few hours later, a part of my gum started to swell up. It's not a big area - just a small area between 2 teeth - but it has really swollen up and I'm a little concerned because this has never happened to me before.

I thought flossing was meant to avoid these things from happening, instead I think it has caused it. Why do you all think? I do remember that from that very area between the two teeth, the floss did take out a big ball of plaque and maybe food from dinner has got caught between the gap? Maybe it's just because my gums aren't used to it and they need time to adjust? Maybe my gums are too sensitive for flossing? I don't know but I would really appreciate an experienced opinion.

Does anyone know anything about labret piercing related gum errosion???

Posted on January 4, 2011

God I can't beleive I'm asking a piercing related question here after reading some of the retarded responses about alcohol/peroxide are good and get your ears pierced at a "proffesional" at the MALL *with a gun, don't get me started* But on to what I need to know.

I've had the center of my lip pierced for some time, maybe like 6months but my concept of time sucks so I dunno. It's not technically a lip piercing, it's a labret, also called chinpiercing by those who don't know what a real pierced chin looks like *please consult bmezine.com* But the other day I noticed the gums on my front two lower teeth have receded. I know what this is because I *unlike many other piercees* do my homework before hand, but this is known as gum erosion.

Unfortuanately, I don't quite know what can be done beyond removing it *done* And I guess I'm asking should I go to the dentist or not worry too much?

Please, no retard responses.

Can any permanent damage be done to my teeth after 2 weeks with a lip ring?

My lip ring rubs against my gums and teeth when i talk but i cant change the jewelry for two weeks. I was wondering if this can cause any permanent damage until then?

Will this inflammation/gingivitis subside?

Posted on January 4, 2011

About a few days - a week ago, I noticed the gums on the top right side of my mouth hurt when I brushed them, and when I looked in the mirror today, the area around the curve of two teeth were more pink/red compared to the other gums. I'm pretty sure it's inflamed, so it's gingivitis but I don't know if it's serious or just a mild case. They don't hurt when I eat or drink--just when I brush my teeth. I started using mouthwash and I'm going to brush once more per day than I usually brush. Do you think that will work, or will it get more serious? I'm like half flipping out here even though I know gingivitis is common...

Gingivitis Help?

Posted on January 4, 2011

I had a fever. my braces cut the inside of my cheek without me noticing it, so i couldn't really open my mouth big. As i was brushing my teeth, I noticed that my gums were redder(which was wierd because i always take good care of them. except the past 4 days that i've been sick) When i was brushing, my gums starting bleeding and were really puffy. I started panicking. this has never happened before. and now after research, i figured it was gingivitis that formed from my fever that made my mouth warm and populated bacteria. but now, I need to know how to treat it. I'm really scared. nothing like this has happened before. Any ideas on how to treat it without making an emergency trip to the dentist?
