Brushing your teeth question?

Posted on March 17, 2011

I was wondering if anyone had any tips on brushing teeth, firstly i would brush my teeth with toothpaste, floss, and then use listerine. My first question would be the listerine part, after i rinse and spit out do i rinse my mouth with water? or just leave it?...and my gums have swelled up alittle because of the floss, i didnt use to floss so im assuming thats the cause, this is a good or bad thing?

My gums are really puffy… gingivitis?

Posted on March 16, 2011

Hey everyone, so I've had braces since February of 2009, and I've never really flossed while having braces because it was just so hard and I wasn't exactly sure of how. But anyways, today I went to the dentist to have a cleaning and she noticed my bottom gums were really really puffy. She told me I needed to floss, and I agreed to this, telling her I would, which I am following through with.. but then about 10 minutes ago I began to floss, and I got all my top teeth and I just can't fit the string through the bottom because my gums are so puffy. I'm supposed to get my braces removed by May, and I went to my orthodontist yesterday and he has never said a thing about it. What do I do? I don't want to end up with messed up gums, I know plenty of people with braces that don't floss, but none like mine. Please help? What do I do? Thank you <3

i think i could have gingivitis?

Posted on March 16, 2011

i think i might have something called gingivits?! i looked it up and it sort of looks like what i have, really red bottom gums, they look horrible, and they've just started bleeding a little when i brush them. im only 14 im so scared right now i dont want my teeth to fall out! when i last went to my dentist which was only a month ago they said my teeth were very clean and i kept them well, so i dont understand how it could be that, because ive always taken care of my teeth, i just want someone to tell me i wont loose my teeth! :/ sorry if i sound really stupid.

2 questions: do I have gingivitis and how bad does my case of it sound if i do have it?

My gums DO NOT not ever time I brush my teeth, but only when I'm not gentle (in a rush sometimes) it bleeds just a little bit and i just rinse my mouth and it stops- and it's usually only around the same tooth every time it bleeds, which like i said, is not every time i brush them. I brush my teeth twice a day and have never had a cavity. I'm going to the dentist today so if I get no answers on this I guess I'll just find out then. And please no answers like "See what the dentist says"
@Roxy what do you mean some time????? you are confusing me

is it healthy to floss twice a day?

Posted on March 16, 2011

I'm in my 40s. I floss once a day and have 3 mm gum pockets, with a handful of 4s and one 5. Would it be okay for me to floss twice a day or is that going to be too much for my gums to handle? Seven years ago I had mostly 2 mm pockets with a handful of 3s. (Life stresses had me not taking such good care of my teeth for awhile.) I'd like to go back there if possible.

I only brush once a day, and I use anti-plaque rinse before brushing and fluoride rinse afterward. (The dental hygienist always comments that I have extremely clean teeth; one told me there was no need to brush twice a day because what I was doing was working great.)

Responses from dental professionals only, please.

Do I have early staged gingivitis!? PLEASE HELP!!!!?

Ok I'm really scared and freaked out and confused here.
two of my teeth have these little like vertical nicks oh the gum bellow them. And they bleed when I brush there and it hurts a bit too when I brush there.

Then yesterday part of my gums over top of a top tooth swelled up and now there is this reddish brown area between the tooth/gum that is swelled and the one that isn't. That just randomly happened yesterday after I got out of the shower. I went to brush and it started bleeding like crazy (the top gum, the bottom one bled a bit though the nicks in the gum).

Last night when I brushed them I have never spit more blood in my life! And even though I brush 2-3 times a day and floss every time afterward I sometimes get bad breath. I brush well, I brush my gums and all that.

The gums only bleed when I brush them not the teeth. The gums aren't like movable or anything and the teeth are stationary too.
I go to the dentist once a year (I know, I know. once every six)

I'm really scared out of my skin here! The gums are still pink, the worst I have seen is a hot pink type thing.

Do you have any tips as to how I am to kind of solve this problem? I heard if you catch it in the early stages you can probably do something about it... I just don't know what that something is.
I'm 14 by the way, if that even means anything...

What can i do about gingivitis?

Ok so I think I have gingivitis or possibly the next stage of gingivitis (that p word...) my gums on my bottom 2 front teeth are sore and receding. They bleed when I brush my teeth. I brush my teeth twice a day. Along with mouthwash. I know for certain I NEED to see a dentist, but I am absolutely TERRIFIED of the dentist. Especially getting a cleaning. I cannot handle it. Just all the scraping... ugh it's horrible. Anyway my question what should I do? Is there something I can do at home to treat it? I really don't think I can handle going to a dentist.... help.

How do you reverse gingivitis quickly?

I have the most painful sores in the deep corners of my mouth. It hurts really bad. My gums peel, and I have canker sores, but I have no cavities and really nice white teeth. How can I treat this.
I have a good toothbrush. I have a SoniCare. I use it every day. I think they are large canker sores. They really hurt deep in my jaw.
And I just went to the Dentist two days ago for a cleaning and she said nothing was wrong, then it got worse.
I have rinsed with mouthwashes, hydrogen peroxide.... tried everything.
I think its both.
Please rate this or mark it or whatever you do to make it popular so I can get more answers.

Gums are SUDDENLY bleeding and swollen for no apparent reason?

Posted on March 13, 2011

My sister's gums are SUDDENLY bleeding and swollen for no apparent reason, what could it be and what should we do?

Would gingivitis symptoms appear suddenly? She says that it feels like an infection.

She had a sore, swollen throat, headaches, body aches, a fever, and she had nausea. Could they possibly be related?

Do I have gingivitis?

Posted on March 12, 2011

I'm 13 and i have had braces since around december. recently, i havent brushed my teeth as much as i should have. Then, a couple nights ago i started brushing my teeth, and my gums bled a lot. the foam from my toothpaste was all redish pink. so i looked at my gums after and they were a blood red kind of color. I've been brushing my teeth and using listerine alot lately and the dark red color is a little faded in some places and isn't as dark over all, but i'm not really sure what it is. then, yesterday i got this canker sore. so if anybody could help and tell me what happened to my gums, and if the canker is related to it at all or not that would help alot
