Tired? Dizzy? Canker sores? Fever? Neck Pains? What is my condition!?

Posted on April 30, 2011

for the past two days I have had HORRIBLE back neck pains, fevers, headaches (horrible), been really tired, dizzy whenever I stand, and a canker sore that is really irritating.

I have seriously considering Oral Herpes (i had oral sex last week) except I only have on canker sore and the area around my mouth isn't irritated and I don't have a lot of canker sores. Nothing inside my mouth is bleeding or inflamed either.

I also read it could be from nutrition and it may be. I have a slight eating disorder. I also heard it could be from allergies. I have HORRIBLE allergies and have stopped talking allergy shots because of time and money issues. I also haven't religiously been taking my allergy medicine.

Could it also just be a cold? I don't even know. Does anyone know anyways to cure my symptoms? Please help, thank you.

Canker Sores or Herpes?

Posted on April 30, 2011

Okay, well lately i've been getting a lot of what i think are canker sores. Like all over my mouth. They really hurt. At one point i thought it was because of my molars coming in but now there on the roof of my mouth too. Ouch!

But lately i've been thinking about the last guy i made out with. If he had a cold sore when we were making out. But the thing is, i haven't made out with him (or anyone else) since like July maybe? I haven't noticed them this bad until now.

How would I know if they were Oral Herpes or Canker Sores?

Fever blisters and canker sores?

Posted on April 27, 2011

I'm looking for a bit more information on fever blisters and canker sores. I've had problems with both and while it was always a (sometimes painful) annoyance, it never concerned me until I got a boyfriend. He hasn't had problems with either and I'd like to keep it that way if possible.

I know fever blisters are caused by the herpes virus and are currently incurable - so, my questions:
1. When can the virus be given to someone else? Is it at any point or only when I have actually fever blisters present? And if it's when there are fever blisters, is it a fever blister in any form or only one that's moist (not scabbed over)?

2. Is there any progress being made on finding a way to cure these things?!

3. Is there anything I can get in terms of medication to prevent outbreaks or shorten them? I'm already using Abreva whenever I get one, and I don't get them often, but I'd rather have them reduced as much as possible.

4. This might sound silly, and it's not really relevant to me right now, but it will be someday...I heard somewhere that if you have an active fever blister, and you participate in oral sex, you can give your partner genital herpes. I know there are two separate herpes viruses that cause fever blisters and genital herpes, but I've read that the type which causes genital herpes can occasionally cause fever blisters too. Is there a way to tell what type you have?!

As far as canker sores go...
5. Are canker sores actually contagious? Everything I've read seems to suggest that no one really knows why they happen. Is this true?

6. What medicine tends to be the most effective for treating canker sores? Is there something out there that can minimize their occurrence?

Thank you!

What virus can canker sores be caused (or affected) by?

Posted on April 23, 2011

I am dealing with a major canker sore infestation, and after seeing my dentist he chose to put me on Zovirax capsules for a week. He said because there were so many sores, it was likely that a virus was at play. During the office visit he did a laser treatment on each of the "areas" affected by the sores. He said the laser kills off nearly all the bacteria and viruses and makes it easier for my body to heal. He also prescribed Peridex and Aphthasol, as well as Vicodin & Motrin for the pain.

Anyway I am just curious as to the viral component to this canker sore situation. I've always understood that cold sores (sores on the outside of the mouth) are caused by a virus, and that canker sores (inside the mouth) don't really have one solid "cause".

Thanks!
I found the answer to my question. It is apparently herpes. There is a huge blog on the issue here: http://www.thewiseguys.com/2010/08/27/canker-sore-cures-that-my-doctor-didnt-know-about/

Canker sores? Do I have Herpes?

Posted on April 22, 2011

I have three sores in my mouth (Not on lips or outside mouth in any way). One of them is on the top left of my gum, it's quite big and does hurt when irritated. This is a canker sore, I'm sure of it. There is also a little sore on the gum below my bottom front tooth on the right side. It's incredible painful, and doesn't quite feel/taste like the other canker sore. It hurts when touched by anything. There is also another sore the the opposite side of the tooth from the previous one I described. It feels like just a damaged gum from being stabbed by a chip, but I'm not entirely sure.

Could this be herpes in any way at all? I'm a little worried.
I found this on a website:
"Canker sores, also called aphthous ulcers, are small, shallow lesions that develop on the soft tissues in your mouth — under your tongue, inside your cheeks or lips, and at the base of your gums. Unlike cold sores, canker sores don't occur on the surface of your lips and aren't contagious. They can be very painful, however, and can make eating and talking difficult.

Most canker sores go away on their own in a week or two. Check with your doctor or dentist if you have unusually large or painful canker sores or canker sores that don't seem to heal. "

It sounds like I just have canker sores, and not cold sores.

canker sores on the back of my tongue

Posted on April 21, 2011

I'm a college student but for my summer session, I'm living off campus and cooking myself. I haven't been eating healthy and usually when I do that, I develop these canker sores in my mouth that are extremely painful. Recently, I tried fixing my diet a little and it's still not helping and to make it worse, the canker sores are at the very back of my tongue, where all the nerves are. I don't even want to eat food much anymore because it hurts to swallow and it hurts to move my tongue. I don't know why I'm getting them so often. Is there something wrong with me? Is it because I haven't been taking my fish oil and vitamin C recently? I'm getting a little scared and to exacerbate situations, I have an extremely high metabolism so if I don't eat vast amounts of food, I drop weight like crazy. :( It took a lot of help with my boyfriend buying me a crap load of food and me stuffing myself to get to 98 pounds and now I'll lose it with the canker sore problem. Does anyone have suggestions on what to do to get rid of them? They really hurt to the point where it's affecting my sleep a little.
.................

I don't do those nasty disgusting things so no..it's not herpes. wtf.
By the way, herpes doesn't have anything to do with canker sores. v_v; Lets not be...stupid.
Hi, thanks a lot. I looked up the symptoms for strep throat and I have a lot of them. T_T I shouldn't be kissing my boyfriend then, right? lol >_<

Herpes & Canker Sores?

Posted on April 21, 2011

I know canker sores and cold sores are caused by herpes virus. It a long story, but I'm being treated for a problem in one of my eyes with a herpes medication. My doctor asked me about cold sores and I said I'd had canker sores since I was a child. He kinda looked at me like I was a slut, cheating on my husband. I've had sex with one man in my entire life, and I promise you it was not when I was 7 or 8 yr old. How did I contract herpes as a child? My daugher also get canker sores. ??? Maybe a stupid question.

Canker Sores – Repeatedly?

Posted on April 19, 2011

This is long, but please bare with me, this gets old real fast.

A few months ago I had a sore throat etc. and the doctors thought it might be mono. Then a few mornings later I noticed one little bump on the tip of my tongue. The same night I noticed that bump I noticed another canker sore on my cheek. Within 3 hours they had spread throughout my mouth. I literally had at least 15 sores in my mouth. I woke up the next morning and a few had gone down so I only had about 6 or 7.

I went to the doctors again and they told me it was herpes and put me on acyclovir. The acyclovir didn't help and eventually the sores went away by themselves. A few weeks later I got more sores again. Six at once again. Those also went away, no thanks to acyclovir and I went back to the doctors who then decided it wasn't herpes but just regular canker sores and that I was "out of luck" basically.

Three weeks ago, my dad asked me how my mouth was and I noticed I was getting another one.
Within the next few days I had more sores. These prevent me from eating a lot of foods and even talking normally so you can see why it would be annoying.

Anyway, I decided that it might be from eating deviled eggs, since each time I have gotten the sores I had eaten eggs before. So we tried making some to see if my sores would get worse (figured it wouldn't kill me). They did get worse so I have been staying away from eggs.

Those sores went away but the next day I had more sores in the same spot as I had a few times before. I am VERY sick of having to watch what I eat and pay attention to what side of my mouth I eat on etc. So if anyone know's what this might be or has had a similar problem, please let me know.

Additional Information:
-I've tried just about every over the counter medication, including salt water.
-I've started taking vitamins.
-I'm not stressed.

Thank you to anyone who actually read this.
