how can I prevent canker sores?

Posted on April 22, 2011

I have had canker sores for a couple of years and I get ear aches along with the canker sores. I was pregnant from Feb. to Sep. 08 and I did not have any sores or ear aches. Since I've had my son I have had two bouts of canker sores with ear aches right in a row. I take a prenatal vitamin, L-Lysine, and vitamin C daily. I am wondering if there is something that happens when I am pregnant that prevents the canker sores. Maybe my body makes more of a certain vitamin or retains a vitamin better when I am pregnant. I have read about vitamin b being good for canker sores but I have not tried it yet. I was also thinking that birth control pills might help because they mimic being pregnant? Maybe I am just grasping, but anybody that has these awful things will understand my pain.
Thanks for your help.

Non-Stop Canker Sores?

Posted on April 7, 2011

I constantly get canker sores a few at a time and the last for weeks, and then I get more right when the others are healing. I've been to my doctor and all he could tell me was to put cinnamon on it. The dentist I go to didn't know the difference between a cold sore and a canker sore and tried to give me cold sore medicine for them. I have suffered from these my whole life and am miserable. All of the over the counter medicines I buy don't even last an hour. I have taken ample doses of Lysine which is said to help, but I haven't noticed a difference. Is there an anti-biotic that anyone knows of? Please help...you name it...I've tried it.

I have a ten y/o son who gets several canker sores a month. We have tried limiting acidics, and not seeing any patterns of cause. Doctor even checked him for Diverticulitis. Well with in the next few months he needs braces, but was told we need to get the cankers under control first. Trying L-Lysine, and seemed to slow them for a short time, but still getting them. Any dentist, hygentist, or someone with similar problems have any suggestions.

It sucks that he can't eat hardly any fruits because of the possible break out.

What would cause, really bad, reoccuring canker sores.?

My wife keeps getting canker sores. Very, very bad ones. We have seen two different dentists, her physician as well a natureopathic (sp) person and no one has any ideas.

What kind of specialist should we try to find, or should we just find yet another dentist and doctor and see what they say??
Funny, no she was tested for all that, and thats not it. No one knows, all they suggested was L-Lysine and that didnt work for very long.
