Strengthening enamel?

Posted on August 15, 2010

So I got an electric toothbrush about a month or so ago. And I think I may have brushed too hard and aggressively with it. My bottom 4 teeth are a bit sensitive right now. My guess is that I damaged the enamel a bit with the hard brushing.

Right now I am using sensodyne and a soft bristle manual toothbrush. And using act fluoride mouth wash.

Any ideas on what I can do to strengthen the enamel? I have a dentist appt in about a week and a half.

Sonicare toothbrushes and gum recession. ?

Is the Sonicare toothbrush good for gum recession or would a soft bristled manual toothbrush probably work just as well?

It would be better if dental professionals answer this question.

How Should I Brush My Teeth, and In What Order Should I brush My Quadrants?

Posted on July 27, 2010

I use a manual toothbrush (Oral B, medium bristles), and I use Crest Whitening with Baking Soda and Peroxide fluoride toothpaste, as well as Listerine 24 Hour Protection. I am very curious, and I've been searching for all possible ways I can have a good quality brushing within three minutes of time. What ways can I begin my brushing period, for example: Should I start with my top right molars and gradually brush in a circular motion until the middle of my front teeth, and then repeat it and continue on to brushing the bottom or top of my molars (chewing surface)? How could I have a good quality tooth-brushing period, while still having continuous brushing without thinking about where to brush the next time. My oral hygienist has spoken to Me about where to brush and how long to brush, but not techniques on how to have a continuous brushing sequence. Also, how could I brush each four quadrants, 30 seconds each quadrant? At a second thought, how many strokes should I use to brush each quadrant?

I need honest, mature answers. :)

Is an electric toothbrush worth it if its not sonic?

Posted on July 21, 2010

I have an Oral B electric toothbrush that cost ; needless to say, it is not sonic. So my question is: is there much difference in a manual toothbrush/electric toothbrush/sonic toothbrush that I should just go back to a regular toothbrush or buy a sonic electric toothbrush?/
By the way, when I say 'sonic', I'm not necessarily talking about Sonicare; I'm talking about the sonic technology (the deal with how many times the brush head moves/rotates).
