Can I get medicaid if I have a job that doesn't offer health benefits?

Posted on June 8, 2011

I'm currently on SSI Disability receiving Medicaid and Medicare benefits. I'm looking at possibly being able to go back to work slowly. I am worried about not having any health insurance though. Does anyone know... If I get a job that doesn't offer health insurance will I be able to keep my Medicaid/Medicare health coverage?

Should I pay for wisdom teeth extraction out of pocket, or buy health insurance?

Posted on November 20, 2010

I lost Medicaid under my parents
I'm a college student, and to reapply to have my own could take too many days. I am in so much pain and the Medicaid-taking oral surgeons around my area SUCK. They have bad service and the only one I was comfortable with was a hospital but then I found out my surgeon only has 6 months worth of experience bcz it's a residency hospital.

So I found an oral surgeon in my city, and they will charge me from ,000 to ,500 and I can set up an account with Care Credit to pay it over a 6 month period. Should I buy health insurance from blue cross blue shield before doing this procedure, or just pay for the extraction + IV sedation + prescription myself? In the meantime, I am reapplying for medicaid.

What will Medicaid (Caresource) cover for dental work?

Posted on November 18, 2010

I am in desperate need of dental work. I am almost positive that I have cavities in each and every tooth. Two of my molars have been completely eaten away by plaque and bacteria. My front teeth (lateral incisors and two fronts) are starting to fall apart as well. I believe that I may have gum disease and I am pretty sure my jaw is starting to change shape (not to mention my teeth spreading apart to fill the gaps of the molars).

Will Medicaid (Caresource) cover dental implants? What all do you think that I will need to get done?

Should i Sue this Dentist? Long but PLZ Help:( me?

OKay i went into the dentist about a month and a half or so ago. it was my first dental visit since i was about 8... im eighteen now. So ten years. I have NEVER had tooth pain or sensitivity... EVER! Well i only went in because i got medicaid.. .so everything is free. And i wanted to know if i qualified for braces. Well the dentist said yes that i needed them badly... and then he set to work on my teeth. i didnt ask him to, but he cleaned my teeth, removing all the plaque which(keeps the sensitivity away from your teeth) and gave me nine fillings(one which was very difficult he said) Well wen i was younger i visited the dentist for a filling, and never went back. it was my middle molar on the right side.(#30) so the tooth was broken up inside my mouth. he extracted the rest and it healed wonderfully(: However,i started getting a horrid pain on one of the teeth on my left side. the one parallel to the one pulled, the middle molar, (#19) and i went back because i feared the filling was too loose.(this is the tooth that was difficult for him to fill) HE now told me that i would need a root canal. I wasnt scared, after all i heard that you get numbed, and given laughing gas. i was just eager for this pain to go away. (on a scale of 1-10 i would rate this pain a 5) Well i went and they started on the root canal. In the end i had recieved eight shots of the numbing medication, which hurt like h3ll itself, and the laughing gas. i still felt every bit of the pain. (as someone with three tattoos and several body piercings, i tolerate a great deal of pain easily) however, this was so bad it put me in tears... i was there for hours in this agonizing pain... until finally.... He left the room and came back with a weird prognosis... he said that it was so difficult and complicated he could not correctly take care of extracting the root nerves, and that i would be sent to a specialist... Well i went home, and dealt with agonizing pain for several days, not wanting to goto a specialist and go thru the bs pain again. (this i would say was an 8 on the pain scale) so i decided to go back to my dentist and tell him to extract the tooth. that way i could get it healed, and get my brace on asap and get implants in a few years when the braces had started working properly. So i went back, and he numbed me. This time i felt no pain from him working on my tooth, the only problem was, he literally came half an inch within snapping my jaw out of place. my mother was watching the entire thing and was cringing with pain. i was in tears, yet again. the dentist was such an idiot he didnt know how to take the tooth out, and had four assistants running around looking for tools, he was LITERALLY yelling around the office for different tools, and he made my jaw so sore that i couldnt talk for hours afterwards. He kept mentioning that it was difficult, it put him in a sweat even.. And he was negligent in many ways, almost poking my eye out and continuously accidentally stabbing inside my mouth and my gums with the tools! Well he finally got it extracted. And i was sent home with gauze, and no medication prescription, they told me to finish the one they had called in several days before, and to call back for another one if i needed it. i was numb, so honestly i felt fine, other than my jaw aching like h3ll:( Well about two hours later, the numbing wore off... and i was in tears again. the pain was so horrible i felt like i was dying. (a major ten on the pain scale) I decided to investigate and find out why this hurt so bad... SO i took a look into my mouth. it was bloody everywhere, so i didnt see much. i cleaned my hands and put a finger inside my mouth to touch my inner and outter jaw where the tooth was extracted. i felt a sharp, slight bump sticking out on the inner of my jaw. i was shocked. had he missed part of the root? or was this bone? i was scared, i showed my mother and she freaked out as well. i figured, its so small the gums will heal over it in time so i left it alone. now, almost ten days later, there is bone erupting a large amount from it, looks horrible, and i can now feel some bone starting to poke up through the other side of my jaw. i have stayed in pain. eating has changed for me, my favorite food, mashed potatoes, now have no taste to me anymore; sadly they are almost all i can eat because i cant chew considering my molars are gone... Im on medication everyday, almost dependent on it, and i have developed a painful addiction to orajel:( Im scheduled to goto a DIFFERENT dentist monday to check this out... im supposed to get my spacers taken out and braces put on next thursday. What i want to know is, has anyone experienced this before, what happened, and should i sue this dentist? i dont want this happening to anyone else. daily i go thru pain ( a nine on the pain scale) and im sick of not being able to eat or taste things the right way anymore. Please Help Me:(
