Posted on April 19, 2011

if i do decide to go with the idea, and one of my baby teeth become loose, or even are about to fall out.. what do i do??

How do I convince my boyfriend to get his teeth done?

Posted on April 9, 2011

I love him to death and it doesn't bug me how they look. I've had similar issues but to a lesser degree. I'm just concerned about his health.

They are crooked to the point he can't ever floss.
Half of every molar is gone to erosion.

I know that bad teeth can cause some serious health issues. He says he doesn't do it because he has no health insurance. I know he can get some cheep or just plain save up but he wont. Maybe he thinks hes invincible or just doesn't plan on living more than ten more years??
What do?
And holding out wont work. I'd be the one to give in.

What can cause severe tooth pain with no signs of decay?

Posted on April 5, 2011

Recently I was able to get some dental insurance after 3 years (ugh). Managed to bump out all of my dentist appointments in a 2 week block (about 5 fillings, and a cleaning). I had been having severe pain in my upper left (farthest back) molar for nearly a year by this point and I had assumed it was just a bad cavity that would flare up randomly with breaks in between. However the fillings I got were on the lower jaw and not, in fact, where I had the tooth pain. I asked my dentist and he double checked that tooth personally, looked over the x-rays and seemed utterly stumped as to why it would feel the way it does. There is no visible decay, and nothing wrong showing in the x-rays. When the tooth isn't causing severe pain it feels very different from my other teeth. More sensitive to touch, and almost throbs like it's coming out of being numb. Very weird to chew with. When it IS hurting, it feels like it's 3x too big to be in my face. Pressure relieves some of this pain but not enough. Seems to be worse when laying down. After 2 nights of interrupted sleep because of this and I'm taking him up on the oral surgeon recommendation. But I wanted to come armed with a few ideas and potential diagnosis. (note: I've been using sensitive teeth toothpaste for over two weeks now and it's helped my other teeth wonderfully, but not this tooth. Flossing twice daily and using fluoride mouth rinse once nightly as well.)
Wisdom teeth have been removed! :)

Do Canker sores ALWAYS hurt?

Posted on March 19, 2011

I have this sore that looks exactly like a canker sore. Its white in the middle with red on the outsides and it is very small. Its on the inside of my mouth near my first molar. It does not hurt at all. Is this just a normal canker sore or should i be worried?

Is there a serious problem with my tooth?

Posted on March 12, 2011

Ok, I usually have sensitive teeth. And when I change my toothpaste, toothbrush and mouth wash I get rid of it. Last night I had something hard to chew and then I felt that my back molar was sensitive to touch. It's filled and looks ok. Just a little point in the inside was sensitive to pressure. Not hurt bad, a mild pain. I changed my toothpaste and now, it sometimes is sensitive to touch and sometimes not. Is it a cracked tooth syndrome?

Help with gingivitis/cavity!!?

Hi, I've been in a bit of discomfort lately and have no money to go to a dentist. I haven't brushed as often as I have been. So after I've been in discomfort, I've been brushing and flossing like a tooth-nazi.

I've been doing this for a few days and for the most part, the bleeding has stopped. However, there's an ache on the molar on the farthest left of my jaw. I'm doing all I can but I can't tell if it's getting better, worse, or if it's still the same.

Any tips to ease my woes? It's on the final tooth on the left side of my jaw. And the gum is pretty tender.

Could this be canker sores or herpes?

Last night I was with someone and I gave him oral. This morning I woke up to like a white, sore puffy line almost from the back of my molar to my front teeth. For the most part it's one sore but it breaks off to another smaller one. I've never ever had a cold sore my entire life. And I'm scared that this might be one.

Bulimia and dental hygiene: I need help!!?

Posted on February 22, 2011

Okay, I am going to tell you all my full story.

I was bulimic for about 8 months or so. I was normal weight, but I thought I was fat, so I turned to eating disorders. I was anorexic for the beginning few of those months, too. Because I was already small, I only lost about 15 pounds, but I was so proud. But I've been eating better and I haven't been vomiting for about a month and a half now. Yay!!! :) however, I did gain back all of the weight, but I don't really care, because this happened:

I skipped out on dentists appointments for about 2 years before I went to the dentist again about a month ago. At that appointment, he told me that I had 4 cavities! And I had never had a cavity before, so I knew it was because my enamel had softened. He told my mom that the erosion was due to some type of acid (which I know is stomach acid), so he didn't find out about the bulimia. My back molar is also chipped because the enamel softened so much. I have to get root canal and a crown on the chipped tooth, and I have to get all of the cavities filled, all together costing around 00 because of my bulimia. Totally not worth it! Now I'm going to a specialist who is going to give the root canal. Now, here are my questions.

- what do I do if my dentist/specialist asks if I have an eating disorder? I do NOT NOT NOT want to tell either of them, so what could I say that would be another probable cause for the cavities and tooth decay?
- I've been disorder free for a while now, but how long does it take for my body to start recovering and going back to norma,?
