The rates of obesity have tripled since the 1970s, and this has led to a significant increase in type 1 and type 2 diabetes as obese children are at a much higher risk of developing diabetes. Dr. Landrigan also provides tips on how to prevent obesity and the diabetes that commonly follows obesity. Studies are being conducted at the Children's Environmental Health Center to determine whether there is a link between common chemicals and obesity.
