What can cause severe tooth pain with no signs of decay?
Recently I was able to get some dental insurance after 3 years (ugh). Managed to bump out all of my dentist appointments in a 2 week block (about 5 fillings, and a cleaning). I had been having severe pain in my upper left (farthest back) molar for nearly a year by this point and I had assumed it was just a bad cavity that would flare up randomly with breaks in between. However the fillings I got were on the lower jaw and not, in fact, where I had the tooth pain. I asked my dentist and he double checked that tooth personally, looked over the x-rays and seemed utterly stumped as to why it would feel the way it does. There is no visible decay, and nothing wrong showing in the x-rays. When the tooth isn't causing severe pain it feels very different from my other teeth. More sensitive to touch, and almost throbs like it's coming out of being numb. Very weird to chew with. When it IS hurting, it feels like it's 3x too big to be in my face. Pressure relieves some of this pain but not enough. Seems to be worse when laying down. After 2 nights of interrupted sleep because of this and I'm taking him up on the oral surgeon recommendation. But I wanted to come armed with a few ideas and potential diagnosis. (note: I've been using sensitive teeth toothpaste for over two weeks now and it's helped my other teeth wonderfully, but not this tooth. Flossing twice daily and using fluoride mouth rinse once nightly as well.)
Wisdom teeth have been removed! :)
A question about stitches!?
I got my wisdom teeth out 2 months ago (March 31)... Had all 4 removed. The top had dissolvable stitches, and the bottom I had to go back in a week to get removed. Well my lower left side has always felt a little weird, a lil sore at times but nothing serious, & like I could feel something back there but I always thought it was plaque so I'd brush my teeth real good (cuz it's hard to reach) and they'd bleed (didn't hurt). Well today I just realized there is still a stitch in my mouth, it's a loop.. I tried pulling it but it won't budge, it's like STUCK and hurts when pulled... should I go back to the oral surgeon? If so.. has anyone had any experience like this? With even body parts.. and how will they get it out?
It's a black stitch, the ones that don't dissolve. I've used a flashlight, a dentist mirror and a dental tool to check. It's stringy, not anything hard, so I know it's a stitch.
Should I pay for wisdom teeth extraction out of pocket, or buy health insurance?
I lost Medicaid under my parents
I'm a college student, and to reapply to have my own could take too many days. I am in so much pain and the Medicaid-taking oral surgeons around my area SUCK. They have bad service and the only one I was comfortable with was a hospital but then I found out my surgeon only has 6 months worth of experience bcz it's a residency hospital.
So I found an oral surgeon in my city, and they will charge me from ,000 to ,500 and I can set up an account with Care Credit to pay it over a 6 month period. Should I buy health insurance from blue cross blue shield before doing this procedure, or just pay for the extraction + IV sedation + prescription myself? In the meantime, I am reapplying for medicaid.

What should I do to prepare for getting my wisdom removed to reduced pain and swelling?
I am getting my wisdom teeth out in a couple weeks. Any tips to reduce swelling and possibly pain? I will be getting vicoden for sure. I am also being very diligent on my brushing, flossing, and listerin twice a day since I think a healthy mouth would help a lot.
Any foods to avoid? My oral surgeon just told me to come in with a good attitude and all would be fine.

Cost of Orthognathic surgery, insurance that covers 100% fees & oral surgeon recommendations in NJ/ NYC ?
I do not have insurance and I have an underbite / crossbite that needs jaw surgery to fix. More than likely it will only be lower jaw not sure. I heard both jaws are more expensive. Anyone have this procedure done in NJ or NYC? If you had good results can you recommend oral surgeon? Also, did anyone have an individual insurance plan in NJ that covers a large majority of surgery i.e. (atena, united health care, blue cross blue shield). I don't mind paying higher deductible if they cover most of surgery fees. thanks!
Health Insurance cover mouth issue?
I don't have a dental coverage with my current health insurance . I recently went in for a cleaning and they saw a lesion they want to send me to a oral surgeon. I'm afraid if its cancerous I could be on the hook for a huge bill which wouldn't be covered if its considered "dental". I don't want to delay having it examined but I also don't want to ask my insurance company for fear of it being denied as pre-existing dental condition that I couldn't add coverage for. What should I do?
Thanks for the info. I'm sorry for your loss. This thing came out of the blue. Its a little white raised line at the back of my cheek. I'm only 37 and don't use any tobacco products but I'm worried. I'll see my primary doctor and ask to be seen by a ent specialist.
Had 2 extractions yesterday morning.. oral surgery help!! paranoid!?
I'd first like to start off by saying.. I do have general anxiety and lately have been paranoid about infections and my health................ due to no insurance, i have had a unfinished root canal that got infected and a root canal right next to it that needed to be extracted. so teeth 30 & 31. my back molar and the one next to it.
dentist told me i had a chronic infection there... and yesterday i was finally able to get them out. i went to an oral surgeon who gave me a payment plan.
now the day after i'm still experiencing some blood especially when i rinse my mouth and it seems like my gum is swollen still and i'm still very sore. i'm wonderin if all this is normal. i am on antibiotics but still paranoid about infectiong :( any input would help.........
is all this discomfort normal? i hurts on that side when i swallow. i feel like my gum is attached to my cheek. its difficult to talk and eat still. and is the blood still normal? it was a lot more blood yesterday the day of the surgery but now its mostly if i talk to much or rinse my mouth.
please any advice. is this something to worry about? or am i just stressing myself out?
i also have like an on and off dull pain like pressure in my temple on side i had extractions............
