Cost of Orthognathic surgery, insurance that covers 100% fees & oral surgeon recommendations in NJ/ NYC ?
I do not have insurance and I have an underbite / crossbite that needs jaw surgery to fix. More than likely it will only be lower jaw not sure. I heard both jaws are more expensive. Anyone have this procedure done in NJ or NYC? If you had good results can you recommend oral surgeon? Also, did anyone have an individual insurance plan in NJ that covers a large majority of surgery i.e. (atena, united health care, blue cross blue shield). I don't mind paying higher deductible if they cover most of surgery fees. thanks!
Health Insurance cover mouth issue?
I don't have a dental coverage with my current health insurance . I recently went in for a cleaning and they saw a lesion they want to send me to a oral surgeon. I'm afraid if its cancerous I could be on the hook for a huge bill which wouldn't be covered if its considered "dental". I don't want to delay having it examined but I also don't want to ask my insurance company for fear of it being denied as pre-existing dental condition that I couldn't add coverage for. What should I do?
Thanks for the info. I'm sorry for your loss. This thing came out of the blue. Its a little white raised line at the back of my cheek. I'm only 37 and don't use any tobacco products but I'm worried. I'll see my primary doctor and ask to be seen by a ent specialist.
Had 2 extractions yesterday morning.. oral surgery help!! paranoid!?
I'd first like to start off by saying.. I do have general anxiety and lately have been paranoid about infections and my health................ due to no insurance, i have had a unfinished root canal that got infected and a root canal right next to it that needed to be extracted. so teeth 30 & 31. my back molar and the one next to it.
dentist told me i had a chronic infection there... and yesterday i was finally able to get them out. i went to an oral surgeon who gave me a payment plan.
now the day after i'm still experiencing some blood especially when i rinse my mouth and it seems like my gum is swollen still and i'm still very sore. i'm wonderin if all this is normal. i am on antibiotics but still paranoid about infectiong :( any input would help.........
is all this discomfort normal? i hurts on that side when i swallow. i feel like my gum is attached to my cheek. its difficult to talk and eat still. and is the blood still normal? it was a lot more blood yesterday the day of the surgery but now its mostly if i talk to much or rinse my mouth.
please any advice. is this something to worry about? or am i just stressing myself out?
i also have like an on and off dull pain like pressure in my temple on side i had extractions............

Need 4 Wisdom Teeth Removed ASAP – No Health Ins…..?
I am a 20 y/o male. I went to the dentist in September of 2008 and they did some x-rays and said I need to see an oral surgeon soon to get my 4 wisdom teeth removed, they are causing a cyst. I had insurance then, the dumb oral surgeons office ran Guardian (dental insurance) to see what my out of pocket quote was going to be of the ,700 and said they are only going to pay 2. Didn't sound right, they should have ran it through Anthem and they would have covered it under surgery but when I found that out it was too late when I lost my health insurance. If I was to buy health insurance on my own right now, the waiting period is 18-24 months from the date the coverage begins. These things are really starting to hurt and are cramming my other teeth causing them to go back crooked. I applied for Care Credit (medical credit card) and they denied my application.
ARE THERE ANY OTHER OPTIONS???? It will take me at least 6 months to save ,700 for this and that's if I am lucky and no unexpected bills arrive....
No money to pull out my wisdom teeth by oral surgeon?
I am a college student who has no health insurance. My parents don't have health insurance either and they are also poor. My dentist told me I will have to go to the oral surgeon to pull my wisdom teeth out due to it being by a nerve. The oral surgeon charges over k per tooth.
What can I do? I don't want to wait till im older and risk more complications.
Again guys a regular dentist cannot pull my wisdom teeth out. It is a dangerous job due to high risk of complications. It needs to be done by an oral surgeon who charges MUCH more than a dentist would.
