Yellow Tongue?

Posted on January 7, 2011

I went to the dr to see what the deal was with my tongue... and he ran a sample and he told me that it wasnt oral thrush it was oral plaque? I have been using peroxyl mouth wash 4 times a day and brush my teeth and tongue that many times also. I also am using a tongue scraper. how long should this take to go away? it doesnt hurt at all.

if you leave toothpaste in your mouth for about five minutes aftdr brushing your teeth?

There's a ton of white stuff on my tongue – is this a sign of complications from my wisdom teeth?

Posted on November 20, 2010

It's now Sunday, and I got all four of my wisdom teeth removed this past Tuesday morning. Starting last night, I noticed a bunch of white stuff on my tongue. I'm wondering if this is a sign of oral thrush or if it's merely plaque because I've been brushing every morning and night but only very gently. And I haven't really brushed my tongue because I couldn't quite get my toothbrush in there. Also, there's a bad taste in my mouth, so is that a sign that I have a dry socket? Hopefully that's unlikely because it's been 5 days, and I haven't felt any intense pain. Thanks!

How does an adult get rid of Oral Thrush?

Posted on October 10, 2010

Ok. It is now the 16th of feb, and I have had a dry mouth and ulcerations and extra plaque on my teeth since the 10th of jan. I went to the doctor and he told me it was oral thrush. So he gave me the lozenges to suck on 5 times a day for 10 days but I was also on an antibiotic for my sinus infection at the same time. So I get done with the meds and the thrush is still there. Just last friday I have been on the anti-fungal mouthwash 4 times a day. I feel like it is getting worse. My dry mouth is terrible. It causes me to have excessive worry and panic. I can't even have a conversation with someone with out having a foamy mouth. Does anyone know how long it takes for this to go away, or do you think I might need stronger treatment?? Or does it sound like something else?? P.s. I was also taking acidopholis while on my meds the first time. I am on no types of medication, only prenatal vitamins because i am spacing out my pregnancies. I just want relief. I have tried everything it seems like.
I had surgery on nov. 2nd of 2008. My immune system was shot for awhile, then I got sick from new years drinking, and then I got the flu 2 days after that. Then I got the thrush. So my immune system was weak.

Treating Oral Thrush?

Posted on September 15, 2010

I think I may have oral thrush, my tongue appears white, somewhat "hairy" near the back and there are little red bumps near the tip. Really it looks like a lot like this image http://content.answcdn.com/main/content/img/elsevier/dental/f0651-01.jpg

I'm not too worried about the health risks as it hasn't bled, or hurt, or really bothered me, its more about hygiene and appearance. I brush and scrape regularly now and I read taking vitamin C will also cause the thrush to disappear over time. I'm wondering how long taking a daily supplement should take to clear up a case of thrush like in the image I posted?

Also are there any other remedies, such as anti-fungal medication that would be affordable? I would like to clear this problem up as quickly as I can.

Can I get an oral or vaginal yeast infection from exposing these areas to baking yeast?

Posted on August 29, 2010

My roommate is currently on a wild bread making kick, and is horrible about cleaning up the kitchen whenever he is done. A small amount of baker's yeast is obviously in the doughy residue that he allows to accumulate on the range, countertop, and unwashed bowls that he leaves in the sink, and apart from the fact that this is aesthetically disconcerting, I fear that this is turning out kitchen into a breeding ground for fungus.

I know that oral thrush and vaginal yeast infections are usually caused by candida, and that baker's yeast is of another species, but is there any danger that could come from letting such messes sit untouched? If I were to inadvertently bring baker's yeast into contact with one of my mucus membranes, might it cause or make me more susceptible to an infection? If not, are there any other immediate threats to my health that this yeast could possibly cause?

I know that all of these questions would be deemed irrelevant if I were to just clean the kitchen myself, but I feel as though this would be some useful knowledge to have for future reference - as well as an opportunity to get in a fair "I told you so" with said roommate.

Excuse my paranoia, but I am simply wanting to make sure. Serious answers only, and please do not respond if you are unsure or cannot substantiate your answer. Thanks!

oral thrush and hiv.?

Posted on August 22, 2010

i have oral thrush. no diagnosis, but i'm positive.

is it associated with any conditions other than hiv?

if there are bleeding sores, does that mean it is MORE likely that you already have a supressed immune system as a result of being infected with hiv?

i've already been to the health department, i am awaiting my test results for hiv, but the thrush was nowhere near its present level of intensity a few days ago.

does anyone have any insight as to what other possible conditions oral thrush is associated with, or anything else it could mean for me?

i'm really scared, but i want a realistic and balanced perspective.

HELP.

Oral Thrush outbreaks because of stress. Help?

Posted on August 21, 2010

Hello,

I am young (22 years). Eat healthy and am in overall good health. I am a huge hypochondriac and I worry myself almost sick constantly. I am always worrying or stressing out for some reason or another. It's gotten pretty bad lately. To the point where I had a panic attack.

I went to the doctor a few months ago because I got a weird mouth rash. He told me it was Oral Thrush and gave me some medicine. It subsided, but now I notice every time I start worrying or getting really stressed out I get an outbreak of oral thrush. I will then calm down, rinse everyday with peroxide and after a few days it goes away. Then a few weeks later I'll get stressed and repeat the same process.

Do you think is is cause for concern since it's persistent and im young? I know it can be a symptom of a underlying issue so I've began worrying a lot again. There is no way I could have HIV as I am abstinent. Like I said I worry and stress ALL the time. The more I'm stressed the worse it gets, however it never gets sever at all. just 5-10 sores in my bottom lip and tongue.

Do you think I should worry over this?

Chronic Oral Thrush. Anyone?

Posted on August 21, 2010

I suffer from Chronic Oral Thrush. I don't have HIV as I've never had an exposure. I would assume I don't have Diabetes because I'm thin, eat a good diet, and I'm it overall good health. I also don't smoke.

I've went to the doctor for this twice. He told me it was thrush and told me it was because of my terrible anxiety.

I do suffer from horrible anxiety. Mostly health anxiety. It go so bad a few months ago I convinced myself I had so many types of cancer, etc. I eventually had a panic attack. During all this I developed the thrush, I noticed when I had my panic attack it got worse.

Now, my thrush doesn't look like the typical oral thrush I read about on the internet. It doesn't look like cottage cheese. It more flat creamy lesions that are white around the outside with maybe a little red on the inside. These never hurt, and it always stays contained inside my bottom lip and on the sides of my tongue. Symptoms are never that bad at all. Only get a 3-5 lesions at a time. Soon after I get them they begin to go away and my immune system fights them off completely in about a week. Then the cycle continues.

Now the reason why I'm concerned is because for the past month I've done pretty good with my anxiety. Just the normal stress stuff from work and stuff, but nothing major at all like before. I noticed I still get the sores sometimes. I don't think it's as bad as it was maybe. But I noticed I was worried about it last night and today I have another one.

So my question is. Does ANYONE out there have this too? I feel like I'm the only one. Do I just live with this the rest of my life? I'm scared it' going to take a huge tole on my immune system.

Any advice?

So I have oral thrush?

Posted on August 12, 2010

I'm a guy in my early 20s and got oral thrush from my girlfriend. We've been tested in the past for std's and hiv so it's not that. I don't have health care because I work two jobs and simply can't afford it. What do I do? It there any way to get rid of this white crap on my tongue without putting debt on my credit card? I appreciate anyone who has ideas, thanks.
