oral thrush and hiv.?

Posted on August 22, 2010

i have oral thrush. no diagnosis, but i'm positive.

is it associated with any conditions other than hiv?

if there are bleeding sores, does that mean it is MORE likely that you already have a supressed immune system as a result of being infected with hiv?

i've already been to the health department, i am awaiting my test results for hiv, but the thrush was nowhere near its present level of intensity a few days ago.

does anyone have any insight as to what other possible conditions oral thrush is associated with, or anything else it could mean for me?

i'm really scared, but i want a realistic and balanced perspective.

HELP.

Oral Thrush outbreaks because of stress. Help?

Posted on August 21, 2010

Hello,

I am young (22 years). Eat healthy and am in overall good health. I am a huge hypochondriac and I worry myself almost sick constantly. I am always worrying or stressing out for some reason or another. It's gotten pretty bad lately. To the point where I had a panic attack.

I went to the doctor a few months ago because I got a weird mouth rash. He told me it was Oral Thrush and gave me some medicine. It subsided, but now I notice every time I start worrying or getting really stressed out I get an outbreak of oral thrush. I will then calm down, rinse everyday with peroxide and after a few days it goes away. Then a few weeks later I'll get stressed and repeat the same process.

Do you think is is cause for concern since it's persistent and im young? I know it can be a symptom of a underlying issue so I've began worrying a lot again. There is no way I could have HIV as I am abstinent. Like I said I worry and stress ALL the time. The more I'm stressed the worse it gets, however it never gets sever at all. just 5-10 sores in my bottom lip and tongue.

Do you think I should worry over this?

Chronic Oral Thrush. Anyone?

Posted on August 21, 2010

I suffer from Chronic Oral Thrush. I don't have HIV as I've never had an exposure. I would assume I don't have Diabetes because I'm thin, eat a good diet, and I'm it overall good health. I also don't smoke.

I've went to the doctor for this twice. He told me it was thrush and told me it was because of my terrible anxiety.

I do suffer from horrible anxiety. Mostly health anxiety. It go so bad a few months ago I convinced myself I had so many types of cancer, etc. I eventually had a panic attack. During all this I developed the thrush, I noticed when I had my panic attack it got worse.

Now, my thrush doesn't look like the typical oral thrush I read about on the internet. It doesn't look like cottage cheese. It more flat creamy lesions that are white around the outside with maybe a little red on the inside. These never hurt, and it always stays contained inside my bottom lip and on the sides of my tongue. Symptoms are never that bad at all. Only get a 3-5 lesions at a time. Soon after I get them they begin to go away and my immune system fights them off completely in about a week. Then the cycle continues.

Now the reason why I'm concerned is because for the past month I've done pretty good with my anxiety. Just the normal stress stuff from work and stuff, but nothing major at all like before. I noticed I still get the sores sometimes. I don't think it's as bad as it was maybe. But I noticed I was worried about it last night and today I have another one.

So my question is. Does ANYONE out there have this too? I feel like I'm the only one. Do I just live with this the rest of my life? I'm scared it' going to take a huge tole on my immune system.

Any advice?

So I have oral thrush?

Posted on August 12, 2010

I'm a guy in my early 20s and got oral thrush from my girlfriend. We've been tested in the past for std's and hiv so it's not that. I don't have health care because I work two jobs and simply can't afford it. What do I do? It there any way to get rid of this white crap on my tongue without putting debt on my credit card? I appreciate anyone who has ideas, thanks.

question about getting oral thrush?

Posted on July 31, 2010

Is it possible to get oral thrush just from performing oral sex on a guy? We didn't have sex and anyways i don't have a vaginal infection, but i gave him oral sex for the first time 3 days ago and now have red bumps on the back of my tongue and throat along with some white right before the bumps. I'm mostly curious if he could have carried it from someone else? And maybe some home remedies as i don't have health insurance.

How do I treat my Oral Thrush without any health insurance?

I think I've had Oral Thrush on my tongue and the roof of my mouth for about six weeks now, since I initially developed a viral bronchitus that developed into a secondary bacterial infection in my sinuses. I typically see dr.s in a free community clinic. And I sometimes visit my primary clinic but now have to pay fee each time since I do not have state funded health insurance yet b/c I'm still unemployed. I applied for the state health insurance two months ago but it takes forever. Anyway, do I waste my time at the free clinic again where a dr. there (I never see the same one twice b/c they rotate so often) about a treatment? Or do I spend another just to see an ENT (who knows if I have to wait another 4 weeks to get an appt. either) to get a treatment for my Oral Thrush. I am scared it will spread down my throat to my lungs if I wait any longer. I did call my clinic's afterhours primary care line. A nurse told me to swab dish soap and baking soda on the Thrush. Please help!
Thanks for the yogurt tip. I'm already eating live active culture Yoplait yogurt.

The dish soap and baking soda dr. remedy did nothing for my tongue thrush.

I can stuff myself full of herbs but don't I really need an anti-fungal medication?

What should I do regarding my lack of finances for dr. appts, since the one dr. I saw at the free clinic, didn't take my concern seriously. Go back there and see another dr? Or try to get in to see an ENT specialist which could take longer.

Or if anyone knows of any good home remedies that will get rid of Oral Thrush, please let me know here. Thanks.
