Lines in teeth?!! PLEASE HELP?

Posted on September 4, 2011

I was away camping last week at a campground and while brushing my teeth one night I noticed a whitish, almost clear line in my bottom middle tooth. It's towards the top of my tooth, not near the gum line. It is with my acid erosion but is more down into the tooth. It doesn't hurt but it's scaring me. That came day I brushed my teeth fairly hard because someone had said they were noticing plaque in my teeth so I scratched it off with my tooth brush. I suffer from paranoia so it made me panic and my mouth hurt and everything but when my mind was on something else it didn't hurt, with my condition that means that it doesn't actually hurt, I just think it does. When I shine a light on it, there's a line the whole way down my tooth that looks like a crack but definitely isn't because I can't feel it no matter how hard I try.
Last night after arriving home I noticed that there was a tiny tiny line like the other one on a tooth 2 teeth away. This morning after getting up my gums feel swollen but I can't determine if they are or aren't because they do not look swollen, just feel it, and this may just be my paranoia.
I am going to make an appointment with a dentist, however I am TERRIFIED of the dentist and the thought of it makes me shake, I will go, I know I have to, but an idea of what is wrong would really help. I refuse to chew on those teeth because I am scared that it will make them worse. The lines aren't chalky, they look like thick pieces of acid erosion, but in the middle of my teeth, with no other erosion immediately surrounding it.

PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!

Two black spots on two of my back teeth?

Posted on September 6, 2010

First I just read to see if it was a cavity, but it said cavities appear as tiny black holes or spots. But these aren't holes. They're like two small black areas on my teeth. I tried scraping it away, but couldn't. I know tartar/plaque can harded up to the point it can't be scraped yourself. But can tartar/plaque appear black? I should note my teeth don't hurt at all. Unless I eat something that's super sweet. And I've probably had these for a long time now, but just noticed it now because of paranoia about my teeth.
They're on my top right back two teeth. One on each. Again, not painful, but I'm worried about it turning into something serious in the future.
And if it matters, no I'm not a smoker or chew tobacco.

Can I get an oral or vaginal yeast infection from exposing these areas to baking yeast?

Posted on August 29, 2010

My roommate is currently on a wild bread making kick, and is horrible about cleaning up the kitchen whenever he is done. A small amount of baker's yeast is obviously in the doughy residue that he allows to accumulate on the range, countertop, and unwashed bowls that he leaves in the sink, and apart from the fact that this is aesthetically disconcerting, I fear that this is turning out kitchen into a breeding ground for fungus.

I know that oral thrush and vaginal yeast infections are usually caused by candida, and that baker's yeast is of another species, but is there any danger that could come from letting such messes sit untouched? If I were to inadvertently bring baker's yeast into contact with one of my mucus membranes, might it cause or make me more susceptible to an infection? If not, are there any other immediate threats to my health that this yeast could possibly cause?

I know that all of these questions would be deemed irrelevant if I were to just clean the kitchen myself, but I feel as though this would be some useful knowledge to have for future reference - as well as an opportunity to get in a fair "I told you so" with said roommate.

Excuse my paranoia, but I am simply wanting to make sure. Serious answers only, and please do not respond if you are unsure or cannot substantiate your answer. Thanks!
