Is dental x-ray harmful? also how much dental hygine cleaning lightens the tooth?

Posted on September 1, 2010

The reason I want to go to the dental clinique of our university is that I want my tooth get lighter. I know that it is not whitening which is cosmetic. They told me it is only cleaning that only removes the plaques from your tooth, and before cleaning process (which Flouride is excluded from it) they have this dental x-ray to check-up the tooth. I don't know if it worths going for check up when they have x-ray.

What do you think about it. (also I have also tried Crest whitening strips once but they are expensive and they do not whiten the tooth that much either)

Is dental hygiene cleaning good?

Posted on August 30, 2010

Our university has this dental clinique that as we have paid our insurance they charge us like now for dental cleaning. They told us that only Flouride process is not included. I am afraid that my tooth get more sensitive after cleaning.

Does it make make the tooth more sensitive? and is it required really to remove the plaques and cavities from tooth?
also does it have any pain?

Will my wisdom teeth extraction sites be normal after 2 weeks?

Posted on August 26, 2010

The surgeon took out 4 wisdom teeth on July 8, the bottom ones have dissolvable stitiches because they were underneath the gums, the top wisdom teeth don't have any stitches they were just pulled. So far I can open my mouth a little but not enough to chew, I didn't get any dry sockets and i'm taking medication as instructed, amoxicillian(antibiotic) every 8 hours and diflunisal(pain killer) every 12 hours and i don't feel any pain.

Every morning and night, I'm rinsing with salt water and brushing the front of my teeth and behind the front teeth to prevent plaques.

I'm wondering for the bottom extraction sites that have dissolvable stitches, will they be fully closed when it's been 2 weeks?

Also the surgeon told me that he wants to see me after 2 weeks.

What to do about my decalcification around my teeth?

Posted on August 11, 2010

I want to cry. I had my braces on for FOUR years. I got them when I was twelve and it was supposedly a two year program. I don't know what happened, but I trusted the dentist and the whole time for my check ups he didn't say anything about my teeth. I saw some plaque on my teeth so I started brushing with baking soda and they sort of went down a little.

I got them taken off yesterday and was happy, but then I saw them. The dentist told me I had bad hygiene (I know, for a while I was very depressed and didn't brush hem for two weeks, it's gross but the truth). He told me to use Colgate's "Plaques" or something like that.

But I am so very said I started crying once I got home. I hate it, I have some white marks on my teeth and I feel they are scratched or something, I don't know what to do. I don't even want to smile b/c I hate them so much. What can I do (especially from anyone with personal experience)?

What are the Causes of Oral Bone Loss?

Posted on August 10, 2010

Hi,
As my doctor sent me to a specialist to understand the cause of my gum recession, I was told (by the specialist) that the main problem is the bone loss. In my case, the gum just follows the bone. Essentially he wants to do a deep cleaning as a way of slowing the bone loss. I am having a problem accepting that plaques and caveties are the reason for my oral bone loss. I am not sure I feel convinced as I have been flossing since I ever remember. I never bleed when cleaning my teeth. My mother has lost all her teeth very early in life and I am thinking this is more genetic than any thing else.

I would really appreciate any answer (link to any article, books ...)
How effective is deep cleaning for preventing oral bone loss?
How much your genes and caveties contribute to bone loss?

I am a male, 40s from Middle Eas decent.

Thanks.

How to make olive oil mouthwash?

Is it harmful or safe to perform oral sex on you when someone doesn't brush his/her teeth?

Posted on July 19, 2010

I don't know whether it would cause a health problem or not.Does it bother you if someone doesn't brush his/her teeth when it comes to the oral sex? Should someone brush his/her teeth after or before performing the oral sex on you?
For example, someone already brushed his/her teeth and ate a meal. You know how long the plaques or bacteria will develop on teeth or tongue so i wonder if it would affect your private genitals. Of course you know you have to wash up it after having oral sex so you think someone doesn't need to brush them or should someone do that?

Baking soda and plaque? Better? Teeth?

Posted on July 11, 2010

Has anyone noticed that flossing gets off plaque much better after using baking soda for a few days instead of toothpaste? The plaques comes off on the floss where as before it has to be scraped....It also balances out the acid in your mouth.....I don't think toothpaste balances the acid much.
Actual results not from a "book"
