Does my mouthwash ruin the effect of my toothpaste?

Posted on April 1, 2011

My dentist gave me colgate sensitive enamel protect toothpaste. I Iike to use mouthwash but I'm using the one I had before which is crest pro health. It helps with some rebuilding enamel and freshens breath and what not but Im worried the fact that they are 2 different companies or something will ruin the effect of the other. Like will using the mouthwash after brushing mess up what the toothpaste is supposed to do ? Please answer thanks.

I have gingivitis? How long does it take gingivitis to progress into Periodontits?

Posted on March 8, 2011

So the first sign that i started off with was bad breath. I would brush my teeth and within an hour it would come back, I tried gum, mouthwash!! it would all come back. I'd take naps waking up with the worst taste in my mouth.

I started using Crest PRO Health a few weeks ago & recently started flossing again. I always brush my teeth but i hardly ever floss...until i realized that i had this on going problem & my gums would bleed too! not too much. recently they've stopped bleeding.

-It doesn't hurt when i eat.
-My gums look pink and when i touch them they turn a little pale then go back to pink, and they don't hurt either.
-Less bleeding now.

-My teeth do feel loose all of a sudden about 4 days ago is when they started to click back and fourth when i'd put pressure on them with my tongue. I don't know if it might be because i don't floss right. It's only the front bottom teeth. I have an app on Wednesday!!! can't wait!

I've never had a cavities. Every time i'd go to the dentist my teeth were always in good shape i'm so disappointed in myself for letting it get to this point, definitely don't want my teeth to fall out i'm only 20! =[
I went in. Early gingivitis. My teeth are nowhere near falling out.

Can someone recommend a toothpaste similar to Arm and Hammer PM?

I don't know if anyone remembers that one but it was wonderful and it really lived up to it's name. When you brushed your teeth at night with that one you'd wake up there would be not bad taste, not bad breath it would feel just as if you'd brushed your teeth 5 minutes ago. Does anybody know another one that works just as well?
Do you guys mean the Pro-Health Night Toothpaste, by Crest?

How can I make my teeth white?

Posted on February 18, 2011

I use http://www.crestprohealth.com/crest-products/pro-health-clean-cinnamon.aspx toothpaste.
I also have to use a fluoride every night for my gums.
However, I really want white teeth.
I know the toothpaste says it's whitening.
If I brush like 4/5 times a day, will they get whiter?
Or should I try something like crest whitestrips?
Thanks

what toothpaste kills bacteria the most?

Posted on February 7, 2011

i want to know what toothpaste works better to clean bacteria. Crest extra whiting with scope outlast or Colgate pro-health. me and my friend are going to do a lab test with the bacteria plates for our sciences project. we want to see if there is really a difference. if one works better than the other than we would probably use a different kind of toothpaste.

What can be done at home to TREAT (not prevent) gingivitis?

Posted on February 6, 2011

Someone that I know currently has gingivitis on his mandibular central incisors. His gingiva have recessed and are rolled and there is marginal reddness present (only on these two teeth). I know that he needs to go to the dentist to have the plaque removed, but he is currently in the middle of getting new dental insurance and it's not an option for at least for a few weeks.
I've advised him to floss and pay special attention to brushing more often.
He has an orthodontic retainer on the back of these teeth, which has caused him to shy away from flossing these teeth as often as he should due to having to use a bridge threader. When I had him floss with a bridge threader, it was almost impossible to get it through his gingiva. When it did go through, his gingivia bled profusely.
What can I tell him to purchase, that is over the counter, to help treat this until he can make it to the dentist? Is this disease able to be cured completely at home if he's persistant with flossing & brushing
Everyone has helped me so much with their answers! I help him floss regularly, purchased Crest Pro Health toothpaste for him to use, and listerine twice a day. From what it sounds like, this should help or even treat his problem. I also took the advice and went to Rite Aid and bought a scaler and explorer and used them on him. Popped the calculus right off! :)

p.s. No I'm not a Dentist, I'm currently in Dental Hygiene school.. which would explain why I know a little about teeth. :) I've been wishing I could bring my instruments home to use on him but I obviously can't... so the generic sort of instruments at Rite Aid seemed to help better than nothing! Thanks again guys!

What should I get my boyfriend to stop his gingivitis once & for all?

Posted on February 6, 2011

We use Crest Pro Health mouth wash I do 1-2x per day but he only does once. We also floss daily & I got him the Crest 360 spin brush pro tooth brush which seems to help a lot. Also are you supposed to change tooth brushes every 3 months or 6? He smokes about a pack a day which if he would quit I'm almost guaranteeing that the gingivitis would almost be gone. I've had some gum problems but use a peroxide swish about once a day to treat mine, but he refuses to.

Any suggestions?
Thanks about the Listerine, I use the peroxide swish according to the directions on the bottle (use equal amount of water per amount of peroxide) because I sometimes have bleeding gums & sore teeth & it helps a lot.
