just got lip piercing, is it hurting my teeth?

Posted on May 24, 2011

i got my lip pierced 2 days ago by a professional piercer. i clean it regularly in the mornin and night with stuff i bought from the piercer and wash my mouth out with non alcohol mouth wash after i eat or drink anything except water. i also brush my teeth twice a day. my tooth near my lip ring (not stud) has been hurting today,( a couple of my front teeth are a little sensitive so could it just be from the ring hitting it every once in a while?) and my whole mouth is a little sore too. is this a bad thing? i also have my eyebrow ears and nose pierced which i havent had any complications with those. also another question, after i eat do i always have to use the mouthwash? or can i just use water , i dont have sea salt. but i think that would be a lot of mouthwash since i usually eat a lot of snacks throughout the day. thanks (:

All natural toothpaste recipe problems/questions?

Posted on March 27, 2011

I’m pretty outraged how fluoride is SO bad for you and they say it helps your teeth, but it doesn’t yet it’s IMPOSSIBLE to find toothpaste that has no fluoride. And all the other ingredients I don’t know what are… So me being a big fan of alternative medicines and herbal remedies and whatnot thought of making my own. I did a lot of research online and found a simple recipe but as I did more research I wasn’t sure about adding a few of the ingredients.

-Baking Soda (or was it powder?)
-Glycerin
-Sea Salt
-Peppermint or Spearmint Essential Oils
-Distilled Water

Myself HATING both peppermint and spearmint (because of the taste and burning feeling it leaves n my tong and the coolness it leaves in my throat making it painful in a way to just breathe (because I HATE that feeling >_<) decided on clove essential oils because after doing research found that clove essential oils is sometimes used to relieve toothaches by rubbing a drop or two on the gums. I have a really (REALLY) sensitive mouth and always have and find that even toothpaste for sensitive teeth isn’t gentle enough, so I thought that would be excellent! Then I read somewhere that the sea salt even though it’s used a lot in homemade toothpaste could be hard on teeth and maybe not a good idea so I took that ingredient out not knowing why it was there anyways. And I have no idea what glycerin is and can’t figure it out lol. I LOVE 100% (not 99.9% or anything) all NATURAL (and organic ^_^) things and that’s hard to find when while buying organic stuff… So I want it to be all natural and I’m not sure if glycerin is natural or not…but I really don’t like the sound of it and would strongly prefer not to have that in there…
So my ingredients are

-Baking Soda (or powder?)
-Clove Essential Oils
-Distilled Water

So I made some and found it somewhat powdery yet too liquidy and separates but was okay with it… It smelled good (because of the clove essential oil =3) but…maybe I got the baking soda/powder mixed up (?) I’m not even sure at this point what I used…but it was way…salty…even with no salt…I…can use it and prefer it to toothpaste with all the added unknown chemicals (*slight chemofobia*) but…
1) Do I use baking soda or baking powder?
2) Should it taste that way normally?
3) Could I get some whole cloves grinded at the nutrition center and put some clove powder in there for better taste? (Would I even be able to get it grinded enough…they’re so hard and a bunch of big pieces grinding against my teeth doesn’t sound very nice to say the least.)
4) Would that even improve the taste?
5) Any recommendations on what I should do? (to improve taste or anything else at all)
6) Oh and any way (besides adding glycerin) to help stop the separation?

Thank you so much for all your help ahead of time~

What is the healthiest alternative to brushing your teeth with toothpaste?

Posted on January 4, 2011

I've heard that some people use any of the following as toothpaste alternatives:
baking soda
hydrogen peroxide
sea salt
and even soap
@Katie: an alternative because it doesn't contain Flouride.

monroe/modonna piercing?

Posted on October 1, 2010

Hi, I got the monroe piercing a week ago today. It was a spur of the moment decision and since then I have realized it is not what I wanted to do. Stupid on my part, I know. Anyways I do not want the gum/.teeth erosion that is very common with these piercings and have thought about taking it out. I have been told in the past it is not good to take them out though while they are healing because if they get infected there is nothing keeping it open to drain and it will end up very nasty and not heal well. I would really like to take it out today, now...lol. But not sure if I should. It is healing very well, no infection but the back of the labret is bugging me it is so tight tomy lip and like I said I do not want gum erosion. Is is safe to take it out today...???? (Been exactly a week since I got it done)...
Thanks so much for your help
ok well i removed it but now i have a small lump in it??? also what should i be using now to clean it and heal it? i was using sea salt while the labret was in it, but now that it's out how should i clean the inside and outside?
