How can I strengthen my back or alleviate back pain?

Posted on April 5, 2011

I have naturally large breasts, but I'm small (as in my back size is 34, my height is 5 feet, and my cup size is DD). I believe the cause of my back pains are the fact that my back can not support the weight of my breasts. Anyway, my back pains are really inconvenient, especially since I like to stay in shape and many exercises and stretches strain my back even more. Is there anything I can do to develop a stronger back?

How does stretching my hamstrings help with lower back pain?

Posted on March 14, 2011

I've recently started PT for low-back pain. My diagnosis from my orthopedist is that my L5 is 70% collapsed. The PT has me doing all these hamstring stretches and I'm just not sure how this is going to help me long term. It doesn't feel like its relieving the pain- the same triggers (a lot of walking, standing for long periods of time) still put me in a lot of pain in my back and down my leg. It's not like stretching hamstrings will replace the collapse of the disc.

What are some good excercises to do at the gym that will help ease my low back pain?

I have an almost constant low back pain that I think have incurred from doing some ab workouts the wrong way. I am a pretty active young male who goes to the gym often. Is there a few good stretches that I can do to warm up before lifting weights that will help me get rid of this pain?

What should I do about lower back pain?

I strained my back playing with the dog, and it's been sore for three days. I take Advil, but the pain never completly goes away.
Dear Copkilla: It is MINOR back pain that will work itself out. I just wanted to know if anyone knew of some stretches or an over-the-counter medication that is more effective for pulled muscles specifically. Also, I don't have insurance right now. A doctor's visit would cost me at least 0, which I am not going to waste on a pulled muscle.

Don't be such a jerk.

Also, I don't know how you get away with having the most offensive name in history. Can a person be reported because of their name? I'm going to try it.
