Could this be periodontitis or gingivitis?
Hey i haven't really looked after my teeth properly in about a year just brushing every now and again. Recently i realized this because a part of my gum at the canine was inflamed and swollen. I started brushing and flossing last week. At first it was really painful and a lot of bleeding all over but that has gone down now and so has the swollen gum. So i think my teeth are starting to get back in shape however there on some teeth the gum inst tight against the tooth which it should be? I can actually stick my fingernail into the pocket but it only feels like its about 1mm deep and this can be normal length for a pocket anyway? So my question is how do i know it has progressed to periodontitis? Can gingivitis cause gum to move away from tooth, even just a little bit like 1mm in my case? Thanks
EDIT: i can only stick my fingernail in the gum around the second molar

How do I fix my swollen gum?
For about 4 days or so I've had a swollen gum between my upper right canine and my premolar. Nothings been happening with my other gums it's just the one area so I assumed it's not gingivitis or anything. I brush my teeth twice a day and rinse with mouth wash so I don't think it's a hygiene issue. It bleeds each time I brush there, how can I fix this?
Oh and I should probably add that I have braces.
I have an ortho. appointment tommorow. Does anyone have any tips on how to clean my teeth extra good?
