Can Wisdom Teeth Cause Canker Sores and Swollen Gums?

Posted on May 6, 2011

I think I may have my wisdom teeth coming in and I've researched some of the symptoms I'm having, such as, swollen tonsil, sore throat, sore ear, tense neck, and minor headaches... and these seem to be some of them. Although I also have swollen gums that are not near my molers but behind my front teeth and a canker sore infront on my bottom teeth.
Others have found the gums near where there wisdom teeth are to swell and have canker sores, but can your wisdom teeth cause swelling and canker sores elsewhere in your mouth, not by your molers?

All of a sudden my teeth started to pain me? At home remedy to cure? Could it be the toothpaste used?

do I have gingivitis or wisdom teeth problem; cant see dentist.?

I was diagnosed with TMJ so i bought a mouth guard. After i wore the mouth guard I that night my four back gums where my wisdom teeth should be swelled. Im not sure if it maybe my wisdom teeth causing me so many problems or what. My gums still swell back there slightly i can feel them touching, or is it possible that the mouth guard caused my teeth to shift because i am experiencing popping of the teeth and pain no discomfort and no bleeding gums or anything. Just swelling in the back 4 corners or so i can feel. I cannot see the dentist until next month and i just dont want my teeth to fall out. Im not sure if the popping of the teeth and pain came from me biting down so hard on the mouth guard in my sleep that I may have caused them to shift and they still haven't gone back yet or if there is something wrong. I am on an antibiotic to fight off any infection. and its not like my teeth ARE LOOSE. they just pop plus i have been tongue thrusting just to make sure they are not any looser. I worry wayy too much stress is probably the cause of my TMJ so my symptoms are

1.swollen gums in the back 4 corners or maybe its just top or just bottom but i can tell one are slightly swollen and it wasnt until I wore my night guard i have all these symptoms.
( my tmj symptoms have gotten better since then its just my teeth)
2. popping of the teeth / discomfort of the teeth no gum bleeding pus foul smell or paleness or tenderness
3. headaches.
I seem to notice the teeth popping more when im done eating then it tightens back up.
last time i saw my dentist he said my teeth are very healthy they always have been.
so does it sound like wisdom teeth growing, tmj, night guard reaction or what??
please dont be negative
my sister had her wisdom teeth removed but i forget why. I think they became inpacted.

Do I have gingivitis?

Posted on January 16, 2011

This is a re-post as I would like some clearer answers:

Hello,

I have not brushed my teeth for 3-4 years. I have done it a couple of times over the years. Not more than fifty times, most likely. I am starting to do it now, and that is permanent, twice a day. I will also start to floss as well.

I have absolutely no problems in my mouth at all after such a long amount of time without brushing. My gums looks fine, no pain in them, they aren't swollen, red, or anything for that matter. My teeth are fine, a bit yellow. The tips on some of them are broken but that is not relevant to me not brushing my teeth. I t happened when I was brushing my teeth by cracking my teeth together and most likely doing something in my sleep.

Overall, my mouth feels fine. I have no pain, nothing. When I do brush my teeth (Did it today for the first time in quite a while) There was some blood in the spit, but right after I was done brushing I did not notice any blood in my mouth, I was most likely only brushing too hard, no swollen gums, no pain, only little blood and that was only during the brushing, a second after washing the mouth I couldn't see anything.

Is there any chance that I have gingivitis (Considering I have no pain, so swollen gums, nothing...)? Is there any chance that I will get it because of this? Will brushing my teeth and flossing twice a day prevent things from happening in the future?

I am going to book a time with my dentist (I went there about two years into my "no brushing" break and they said my teeth were perfectly healthy). I just want to know about my risks....

Thanks.
Also, I brush three times a day, floss once a day and use listerine twice a day. Starting last week... But I never get any blood.

I think I might have Gingivitis?

Posted on January 14, 2011

I'm not really sure, but my lower gums bleed a little bit at the front when I brush, even when it isn't too hard. My friend who's 12 like me went to the dentist today and she was told she has gum disease. I'm really scared cos I might have gingivitis... I looked on Wikipedia and it said the symptoms of gingivitis are:

Swollen gums
Mouth sores
Bright-red, or purple gums
Shiny gums
Swollen gums that emit pus
Severe oral odor
Gums that are painless, except when pressure is applied
Gums that bleed easily, even with gentle brushing, and especially when flossing.
Gums that itch with varying degrees of severity.

But I only have bleeding gums and it's only by a couple of my teeth, help please, I'm only 12 and I'm really scared!!

Is this normal – gingivitis?

Posted on December 30, 2010

I went to the dentist to get a cleaning last week and they told me I have gingivitis and since then I have been brushing and mouthwashing like crazy and am taking the time to floss in the morning and night. Before my visit to the dentist, I did notice i had swollen gums, but now they seem to be even worse (more red and swollen), is it because im flossing or brushing too much or does gingivitis look worse before it gets better??
- also i have developed canker sores on my top and bottom lips..(gross and painful)... could this be the cause of my more swollen gums?
