What are my chances of type 1 or 2 diabetes?
Im only a teenager, and my dad has type 2 diabetes, my cousin on my dad's sude has type 1, and my grandfather, plus his 6 relatives all have type 1 and 2 on my dad's side. What are my chances of getting diabetes? What is the ratio? Can I prevent diabetes? And will I have to go to the hospital if I am diagnosed with type 1 or 2 diabetes?
Braces/Straight teeth..? Please help?
Okay, this isn't to complain, but I'm going to tell you people my exact situation so that I get some good answers:
I go to court with my mom and dad sometime in August to settle divorce matters. Until then, I don't have to see my dad, but he doesn't have to pay us either (he's mentally ill and the biggest jerk I promise you will ever meet..yeah. I PROMISE.) As a teenager, not having straight teeth is really effecting my self-esteem. I hate smiling because of my teeth. We don't have the money for braces right now, and even afterwards, what if my dad doesn't want to pay for them? Are there ANY possible ways I can get braces? Any ways we can scrape up the money? What exactly are my options?
Is your perception of yourself in the mirror or in photographs more accurate?
When I look in the mirror, I think I'm above average looking. Ok, I actually fit the typical description of ugly: long face, crooked teeth, a bit of acne, and non-existent breasts, but somehow I still think I look good as long as I keep my mouth closed. Yet when I look at my photos I look at best very plain but more likely just plain ugly, even when not smiling. In pictures my eyes are tiny or droopy, my nose is flatter than what I see in the mirror, and my face is even longer and thinner. I also look physically dumpy, while in the same outfit I look ok in the mirror. (I'm 5'8", 34-28-38, 128 lbs, but the hips may be less than 38 now.)
I know that what I see in the mirror is a mirror image and not what other people really see. So which image is usually more accurate? Am I just not photogenic, or ugly with an extremely skewed perception of my mirror image? My candids are just as bad as my posed pictures. I've taken pictures of my face from all angles, and all are bad.
Yes, I know it's shallow to be overly concerned with appearance, and personality is more important, etc., but I'm a shallow person.Right now I'm more concerned about physical looks than what's inside.
Actually, I'm not a teenager. I'm in my 20s, and I've been dissatisfied with my pictures for most of my life.
What is the most effective way to whiten my teeth- WITHOUT a whitening treatment?
I get my braces off in 2 weeks and I want a really white smile- like the girl on the crest whitening strips commercial has. I use Crest 3D whitening tooth paste already, and the only thing I ever drink is water, and I obviously don't smoke since I'm a teenager. I'm willing to try anything except professional whitening. Will Crest White Strips work on my teeth in this condition?
I had to use tetrocyclin when I was a teenager and it stains your teeth yellow, will this stain come off with the strips? I really want whiter teeth and im tired of looking like a smoker, its horrible, pale skin and yellow teeth, not super sexy if ya know what i mean :}
Would you say my gingivitis is mild, moderate or sever?
Well...I've been bad. My dentist told me to do a good cleaning at least once a day. (brush,floss,antiseptic) I can't say I have been brushing at all. (Gross....I know) I've never had anything said to me since I was like a teenager. That's when I stopped brushing regularly. (double gross i know). Now I have itching in certain areas of my mouth. The worst paint or constant is by my left molar in the back and by my right k9. How bad is my gingivitis now? AND...So now that today is my first day doing the whole 9 yards (including scraping my tongue) 3 times a day. How long will it take for my gingivitis to go away. (trust o think i learned my lesson and I will not stop this routine at all unless i need to pick it up a notch.)
