I have many cavities?

Posted on November 18, 2010

I just came back from the dentist and found at that I have several cavities (I would say from listening to him tell my mom that it was anywhere from 5-10.) He also said that I have many places that will be cavities if I don't do anything about them. About 2 months ago, I got my braces off after 4 years (it wasn't supposed to be that long but I didn't wear my rubber bands enough) and I think that it has something to do with that, or I just somehow accumulated all of these cavities over the summer. I only brush one time a day and know I should do more but don't. My dentist also said that I have to begin using fluoride toothpaste I was given. What should I do about this and how should I feel about this (I know my parents are mad at me especially since I never have had good teeth.)
And I honestly don't know any teenager that brushes and flosses twice a day and limits their soft drink consumption.

what should I do I am extremely scared…?

Posted on September 21, 2010

I am a teenager and I am almost positive I have periodontal disease do to some bad oral hygiene choices in the past but haven't been to a dentist in several year because my parents cannot find one they like. The other day while eating crackers I broke a tooth one of my molars to be precise which was most likely caused because cavities have weakened the tooth. to avoid any further problems I told my mom the tooth broke she told me she would try to find a dentist and make an appointment as soon as possible. but after doing a little research the dentist will have to examine my oral health before doing anything and any procedure to fix the tooth is going to be costly but if I need more to help with periodontal disease that is going to make the charge go way up and we don't exactly have the money to pay for anything what with the economic crisis we are going through. I already felt bad for making my parents pay for online classes and this makes me feel absolutely terrible. I am extremely scared about a dentist appointment for these reasons and have been shaking for the past 10-20 minutes any advice at all? can anyone help me out or even just give advice/

thanks in advance

Why do teenagers have bad breath in the morning?

Posted on September 8, 2010

I have 3 sons, and my teenage son has the WORST morning breath of all 3 of my sons, including myself. Does it have something to do with him being a teenager or is it just him personally. His brothers always tell him that his breath smells when he talks to them in the morning and he is starting to get conscious of it

Can degenerative bone disease really affect a persons teeth?

Posted on September 7, 2010

I have been diagnosed with degenerative bone and disc disease. for years I didn't have any dental problems, even though the dentist told me that I have "soft teeth". For that reason and having braces when i was a teenager, I made it a habit of brushing my teeth several times a day. I will even wake up at night and brush my teeth.
Now, in the past 1 1/2-2 years my teeth will just crumble and eventually some of them have hurt which meant they had to be extracted. The tooth will look healthy. I had a FRONT TOOTH to crumble and fall out WHILE I WAS BRUSHING!
My dentist told me that other than the deteriorating my teeth were healthy. There were no signs of plaque or improper brushing.
I am now 37 years old and I have been diagnosed with the bone and spine disease along with arthritis in my back but does this type of disease affect a persons teeth.
Please serious answers only worth 10 points!

What’s the best way to get my teeth whiter ? ?

Posted on September 5, 2010

I don't smoke or drink a lot of coffee. I brush twice a day, always have, and yet my tetth aren't as white as I'd like them to be. I don't think my parents would be willing to pay to let me get my teeth whitened. They aren't really yellow or anything, they're just kind of creamy, and I would like them to be really white.

Can anyone recommend some products available in Ireland that I could get on a teenager's budget? Thanks in advance

I have a checkup/teeth cleaning tomorrow…?

Posted on September 2, 2010

What is the dentist gonna do? I havent been since like 2008. I don't take the best care of my teeth im a teenager. I could feel like heavy plaque build up in my back teeth on like the fronts. Also i have a big hole in my front tooth on the outside! Has anyone had this before?! Its like a huge black hole. I can no longer smile big or people will see it. What do you think the dentist will say about it? Will they fill it that same day or will i have to come back? How long does it take to have a checkup/teethcleaning? Last thing where would they put the shot if they do happen to fill it? Any comforting advice would help too Im NERVOUS! Thanks

Lingual brackets Dr. Yan Razdolsky DDS, LTD

Posted on September 2, 2010

Lingual braces is a type of orthodontic treatment where the brackets and wires that produce the patient's tooth realignment are attached to the backside of their teeth, as opposed to the front or cheek side as is the case with traditional dental braces. They are non-visible because they are on the backside of your teeth. It is important to remember that not everyone is a suitable candidate for lingual braces. In general, appropriate candidates will be adults and older teenagers (teenagers that have few, if any, baby teeth remaining). The patient's teeth need to be relatively normal sized, as opposed to being very small. Good candidates will have a bite relationship that is accommodating to the presence of lingual braces. If the patient has teeth that overlap excessively (deep vertical overbite) or have an alignment that might produce heavy forces on their orthodontic brackets when they chew or otherwise close their teeth together, lingual braces probably aren't the best choice. Only an evaluation by an orthodontist can lead to a determination that lingual braces technique is a suitable treatment approach for you.
