What is the best method of teeth whitening for me?

Posted on September 8, 2010

My homecoming is in a week and my teeth aren't as white as I'd like them to be. What's a good at-home way to whiten?

That's a picture of how they are now.

Thanks in advance!

Does brushing with baking soda to whiten your teeth ruin your teeth?

Does brushing with baking soda to whiten your teeth ruin your teeth?
like.. does it remove tooth enamel like those white strips and make your teeth thinner and weaker?
or does brushing with baking soda only make them whtier somehow?

thankyou:)

I had been with my last dentist for 15 years but he rarely took x-rays whereas my new dentist took x-rays and discovered this problem, it has really frightened me as I thought teeth were being looked after by my dentist (how wrong can you be) I am not sleeping due to fear of losing them, are they loose because the plaque below gumline was holding them in?

What's the best way to get rid of canker sores?

Posted on September 8, 2010

I've gotten these all throughout my youth, and they are so painful. Especially when I get them on the sides of my tongue where they scrape against my teeth and cause days of pain. I've tried various things like Kanka, etc. But it still takes about 3-5 days or more to get rid of some. Also, for whatever reason...it seems like using the Kanka helps spread the germs to another area, causing another one. Sometimes I've even gotten them in annoying areas, like on the back of my throat. It apparently comes from eating various fruits and drinking things that have citrus fruits in them, and something to do with the acid. This really irritates me...my job requires me to talk the whole day, and it's extremely difficult to properly speak when the nerves in your tongue are reacting strangely to the pain of a sore being there. I know that millions of people deal with these, some more severely than others. What is the best way to deal with them, apart from the "go to the doctor" cop-out answer?

How do you know if you have soft enamel?

Posted on September 8, 2010

I just found out I need 4 fillings in my teeth, and I never had any cavities before, and I saw the dentist one year ago and my teeth were fine then.

Somebody in one of my other questions said something about soft enamel. How do you know if you have soft enamel? And can it suddenly just get soft? Cos I never had any cavities until now.

Just now I brush my teeth once a day, at night before I go to bed. And I floss maybe two times a week. That is the same as I've always done so I don't know why I got cavities now and didn't in the past.

I feel really bad now because I have to get fillings and my big brother and sister have never had any, and my mum is really mad with me because she found out I've been eating sweets at school and she doesn't let me eat them usually. So she's being horrible to me about it and says it's my own fault, but I'm really scared about getting fillings.
I'm 15 years old. The dentist showed me with a mirror where the cavities were, they are dark spots in the middle of some of my back teeth. So I do believe him, I just wondered why I got so many now.
